Day 1: Santiago - Patagonia Region - Tierra del Fuego and Antartica
Fly from Santiago to Punta Arenas. Upon arrival take a bus to Puerto Natales (3 hrs). In the evening, we will stop by your hotel to review the trip itinerary for the following days. Overngiht at a hotel in Puerto Natales.
Day 2: Patagonia Region
Transfer by van to Torres del Paine National Park. We will stop at Cerro Castillo, the main site of wool and meat exportation to Europe during the 1960s before arriving at Torres del Paine. Trek to the base of The Towers (7 hours roundtrip), a spectacular hike to view the three pink granite towers that made the park famous. Lodging and dinner at a Refugio (mountain lodge).
Day 3: Patagonia Region
Today we will trek around the Paine Massif. Hike across ancient glacial moraines on the way to Camp Seron. The trail goes through Lenga forests where we often see Austral parakeets, several species of geese and the occasional guanaco and fox (trekking time 4 hrs). Overnight at a camp.
Day 4: Patagonia Region
Hike to Lago Dickson, a glacial lake on the edge of the Southern Patagonia Ice Cap. Hike through bright blooming Notro bushes and crossing a stream along the lake. This is a beautiful leisurely hike with a trekking time of 6 hrs. Overnight at a Refugio.
Day 5: Patagonia Region
Hike through pristine old growth beech forest. Along the way, see the red-headed magellanic woodpecker. Just before we arrive to our camp, trek past glacier Perros which offers fantastic views of the glacier and its lake (trekking time 5 hours). Spend the night camping at the base of Paso John Garner at Los Perros.
Day 6: Patagonia Region
Today, prepare to climb over Paso John Garner and down through thick forest directly above the massive Glaciar Grey. See rugged, glaciated peaks and the Southern Patagonia Ice Cap a view not to be missed (trekking time 5 hours)! Overnight at a camp.
Day 7: Patagonia Region
Today we will descend to Lake Grey (Lago Grey). Trek through lenga forest and every so often see Glacier Grey and the Southern Patagonia Ice Cap (average trekking time 5 hours). Our tents will be set-up right next to Lake Grey where you can watch the ice bergs drifting past. Take the rest of the afternoon to relax. Overnight at a camp.
Day 8: Patagonia Region
Cross a high plateau overlooking Lago Grey and the Grey Glacier on our way to Lago Pehoe, a hidden lake in the Tehuelche language (trekking time 3-4 hours). Take the afternoon to relax and enjoy your surroundings. Overnight at a Refugio.
Day 9: Patagonia Region
Trek to the French Valley. This valley, the most beautiful in the park and one of the most unique in the world, is surrounded by hanging glaciers and an amphitheater of granite walls and spires. Continue to Lake Nordenskjold, an extraordinary turquoise lake where Refugio Cuernos is located (trekking time 6-8 hrs). Overnight at a Refugio.
Day 10: Patagonia Region
Trek along Lake Nordenskjold and below the hanging glaciers of Mount Almirante Nieto to Hosteria Las Torres (trekking time 5-6 hours ). Transfer to Puerto Natales. Overnight at a hotel.
Day 11: Patagonia Region - Tierra del Fuego and Antartica
Take the bus back to Punta Arenas. Fly from Punta Arenas to Santiago. END OF SERVICES.
