Stone Town is the old city and cultural heart of Zanzibar, little changed in the last 200 years. It is a place of winding alleys, bustling bazaars, mosques and grand Arab houses whose original owners vied with each other over the extravagance of their dwellings.
I will take you on a 3 hours walking tour of the downtown core. This will help orient you and show you some of the unique places and sites of the city. Within the downtown area, there are several neighborhoods each with it's own 'flavor'. I can give you some of the history of the city. Where to visit in stone town: Old slave market site (Anglican church). While in town you will see a tiny and dingy room where slaves were kept before reaching the auction table in the old slave market. A Visit to the Sultan Palace Museum. One of several royal palaces of Zanzibar. This served as the town house of the Busaidi Sulta. Notes: Price includes: entrance fees, small bottles of water and guide.
