Day 1 Welcome to Peru
Upon arrival into Lima, be assured that a private transfer will be waiting to take you to your hotel. Your driver and English-speaking representative will welcome you to Peru ensuring that you have a safe and comfortable reception.
Overnight in Lima (Altitude: Sea Level)

Day 2 Lima to Cusco & The Sacred Valley with Amaru & Pisaq (Meals: B)
In the morning, we will pick you up from your hotel and take you to the Lima Airport in time for your domestic flight to Cusco. Upon arrival to the Incan Empire of Cusco, you will be greeted with a welcoming hot cocoa tea and be given a special gift from the Andes as a thank you from M14712. We will then take you to the Sacred Valley of the Incas, which is located at a lower altitude than Cusco; therefore, it will help you to acclimatize to the Andes. Along the way, you will visit the Andean community of Amaru, where you will experience the daily life of a typical mountain community and observe how the people weave textiles, such as belts and blankets, and how they grow and harvest their produce. You will also have an opportunity to taste the different types of delicious Andean potatoes and corn. We will then continue through the valley to visit Pisaq, which has a large daily market full of goods for both tourists and locals. This market is where villagers come from the mountains to sell their home-grown produce and unique handmade arts and crafts. It is highly recommended for having a wide variety of interesting souvenirs at great prices. After you have shopped to your heart’s content, we will drive you to your hotel. For the more adventurist travelers, there is also the possibility to visit the Pisaq Ruins.

Day 3 Maras & Moray (Meals: B,L)
In the morning, your private tour guide and driver will take you off the beaten path to Maras, a typical Andean village. Here you will walk through the streets and get a sense that you have stepped back in time, as the people continue to wear traditional clothing and the town is lined with historical buildings. You will visit the very impressive San Francisco Church, including visits to the baptism room and bell tower, where you will have a great view of the village and its surrounding snow capped mountains. Next, we will drive you to the incredible circular terraces of Moray, which were used as an Incan laboratory to acclimatize crops. After that, you will have a picnic lunch at a nearby location with great views of the magnificent glaciers and mountains. Following lunch, you will have an opportunity to visit the salt terraces of Maras to see and learn about an ancient pre-Incan method of producing salt. After this visit, you will have the choice of either a short 1 hour trek to the Vilcanota River and then we will drive you to your hotel or we can drive you directly to your hotel.

Day 4 Ollantaytambo Town & Ruins (Meals: B,L)
In the morning, your tour guide will pick you up from your hotel for your private tour of Ollantaytambo, one of the last Incan refuges during Spanish colonization. You will step back in time as many of the houses and buildings continue to stand from the Incan empire and display original architecture. You will be invited to enter one of these houses to observe the building and the way in which the people used to live. We will then take you to visit the powerful and impressive Ollantaytambo ruins, temples and terraces. These sites continue to be well preserved since the Spanish conquest and provide an interesting insight into how towns were designed during the Incan period. This tour also includes a visit to a Chicheria, where you will learn the old Incan technique of producing the most popular beverage in the Andes. You will also get to see how local families raise guinea pigs in their own homes as a means to generate meat in the future. After your Sacred Valley tour we will drive you back to your hotel.

Day 5 Inca Trail - Km82 to Wayllabamba (Shared) (Meals: B,L,D)
Today, very early in the morning, you will start the mighty Inca Trail. Your private Inca Trail Tour Guide and driver will pick you up from your hotel to take you to KM82, one hour from Ollantaytambo. Here you will register and meet your chef and porters who will accompany you for the whole duration of the trek. From KM82 (2700m, 8850ft) you will make your way to the Wayllabamba Campsite. The first two hours of the trek is a lightly paced climb until you reach Miskay, a beautiful picnic area where your chef and porters will have lunch ready and waiting. After lunch, you will have 3-4 hours (depending on pace) of steady uphill climbing. Along the way, you will have a stunning view overlooking the first Incan ruins of the trail, Llactapata, which is a site thought to have been used primarily for agricultural production. Here, you will have a great opportunity to stop and take some photos and learn about the history. At the end of the day, you will arrive at the village of Wayllabamba, and the chef and porters will reward you by having your tent set up and your dinner waiting for you. You will have the rest of the night to relax.

Day 6 Inca Trail - Wayllabamba to Pacaymayo (Shared) (Meals: B,L,D)
Early in the morning, you will be woken with a hot coca tea. Then you will enjoy a tasty breakfast to get you ready for the very challenging, yet rewarding, day ahead. Today, you will start from an altitude of 3000m, 9850ft and climb for five hours to reach an altitude of 4200m, 13800ft at Dead Woman’s Pass, the highest point of the trail, where you will have a stunning panoramic view of the Andean mountains and its surroundings. After completing the toughest part of the Inca Trail, you have an hour descent before reaching the picnic area where your chef and porters will have prepared lunch. After lunch, you have another hour descent before reaching Pacaymayo Campsite, where you have the rest of the day to relax. During the evening, you will enjoy a delicious dinner cooked by the chef before having some more well deserved time to relax.

Day 7 Inca Trail - Pacaymayo to WiñayWayna (Shared) (Meals: B,L,D)
After an early breakfast, you will continue trekking the Inca Trail past many archeological sites. The first part of today’s trek will take you from Pacaymayo (3600m, 11800ft) to the second pass, Runkuracay (3900m, 12800ft), where along the way, you will enter the beautiful circular walled ruin that was thought to have been a stable resting place for couriers and their animals on the trial. From here, you will also have a stunning view of the surrounding mountains, including Salkantay and Veronika. After reaching this pass, the rest of the day’s trekking is mostly downhill, following the amazing original path constructed during the Incan period and passing through original tunnels that continue to stand. You will pass Saqaymarca, an inaccessible old Incan town that sits on top of a sheer cliff, before reaching a nice area for lunch. After Saqaymarca, you will encounter the beautiful ruins of Phuyupatamarca, which was believed to have been an important religious site that contained sacred baths for ceremonial purposes. After lunch, we will continue the trek until we reach the agricultural terraces and campsite of WiñayWayna. From the campsite, you will have a spectacular view of the snow-capped mountains and you will have the rest of the day to relax and take in the stunning view. During the evening, the chef will prepare you a special dinner.

Day 8 Inca Trail – WiñayWayna to Machu Picchu (Shared) (Meals:B)
You will awake to another early breakfast to prepare for the last leg of the Inca Trail. From WiñayWayna you will trek for two hours until you reach the Sun Gate, ‘IntiPunku’, where you will have finally arrived at Machu Picchu. Congratulations, you will have officially completed the Inca Trail and be rewarded with a breathtaking view of Machu Picchu, the ‘Lost City of the Incas!’ From this spectacular view, you will overlook the entire site of Machu Picchu and the beautiful mountain of Wayna Picchu. You will then have a short downhill walk to the ruins and enjoy a guided tour to learn about the history of this truly fascinating sacred Incan site. You can then enjoy some free time to explore the site on your own before returning to AguasCalientes in time for your train back to Cusco and transfer to your hotel.

Day 9 Cusco City & the Incan Empire (Meals: B)
In the morning, your tour guide and driver will meet you at your hotel to begin your private city tour of Cusco. You will visit the well-known and beautiful temple of Sacsayhuaman, which continues to be a very important religious and ceremonial site for the Incan culture. You will be amazed by the ingenious architectural achievements of the Incan civilization and impressed when imagining the feat of moving and fitting each uniquely shaped stone, weighing some 70tons, so perfectly together without mortar that not a blade of grass could pass between them. As part of your city tour, you will also visit the Cusco Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage site, located in Plaza de Armas, the main square. Here you will see many very important holy Christian artifacts and artwork derived from the ‘EscuelaCuzquena’ (Cuzco Art School). Your tour will then take you to the Temple of the Sun, ‘Qoricancha,’ located on the main Avenida El Sol (Avenue of the Sun). This Incan site was one of the most worshipped and respected temples of the city. Finally, you will experience local daily life at the San Pedro Market, where you will see a wide variety of goods including, gifts, crafts, clothes, meats, juices, fruits and vegetables. You will then return to your hotel and spend the rest of the day at your leisure.

Day 10 Cusco to Lake Titicaca on a Tourist Coach (Shared) (Meals: B,L)
Today at 7am your driver will pick you up from your hotel and take you to the bus station in time for your 9 hour coach journey through stunning Andean scenery to Lake Titicaca. On the way, you will visit numerous fascinating cultural and natural attractions. The first stop will be at the Andahuaylillas Church, known as the Andean Sistine Chapel, where you will see intriguing 16th, 17th and 18th century mural paintings and altars completely decorated in gold. You will then stop at Racchi, a small highland town where you will see the Incan temple of Wiracocha and learn about its fascinating construction with adobe brick walls that measure up to 11 meters high. After your time in Racchi, you will stop at Sicuani to enjoy a buffet lunch of traditional Peruvian dishes. After lunch, you will travel through the highest point of the journey, La Raya (4300m, 14100ft), which is the halfway point between Cusco and Puno. You will arrive at Pukara, which is famous for its ceramic production and its most famous figurines, the two bulls, which are a common sight on the rooftops of Andean houses as they bring good luck. At 5pm, you will arrive in Puno, which lies on the banks of Lake Titicaca, the birthplace of the first Inca, Manco Capac. One of our representatives will take you to your hotel where you will have the rest of the night to relax or explore the city.

Day 11 Uros Floating Islands & Taquile Island (Shared) (Meals: B,L)
Today, your guide and a typical tricycle taxi will be waiting for you at your hotel to take you to the highest navigable lake in the world, Lake Titicaca. During the morning, we will visit the highly unique Uros Floating Islands, which have been built using only totora reeds, a water plant that grows in the lake. You will be amazed by how locals use totora reeds to build their canoes, houses, beds and many other objects necessary in their daily lives. As part of your visit to Uros, you will ride on a totora reed canoe, which will let you experience a smooth and pleasant trip around the islands. From here, we will continue on to Taquile Island via motor boat for 2 hours, so you can relax and enjoy the stunning scenery of Lake Titicaca. Upon arrival to the private M14712 Bay at Taquile Beach, you will enjoy a locally prepared lunch of delicious and very fresh Lake Titicaca trout. After lunch, you have an opportunity to take a short hike around the island before heading back to Puno via boat across the lake.

Day 12 Lake Titicaca and Flight to Lima (Meals: B)
Today, your private driver will pick you up from your hotel and take you to the Juliaca Airport in time for your domestic flight to Lima. You will arrive into Lima in time for your international flight. We truly hope you have had a great cultural immersion with us!
