We begin our explorations in the rugged highlands around Windhoek, before making our way through the vast desert plains of the Namib-Naukluft National Park to Walvis Bay. Here, thousands of flamingos and other waterbirds feast on the richness of the cold Atlantic Ocean and a unique ecology survives in the tallest dunes in the world. In particular, we will take time out to find one of the world’s strangest plants, the Welwitschia, growing in the seemingly lifeless gravel plains.
Moving northwards, we will visit sites for Namibia’s near-endemic birds in the world’s most ancient mountains, the Erongos, and then combine birding with unrivalled game-watching in the famous Etosha National Park. As we move to the Okavango Delta in Botswana, the woodlands become taller and denser and we will search for a range of new species. Days spent along the floodplains of the Kavango and Zambezi River systems provide some of the most exciting birding and animal watching in Africa. Finally, after crossing the Caprivi Strip, we will end our tour in Livingstone after marvelling at one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, the mighty Victoria Falls.
Please note: these prices are subject to foreign exchange fluctuations.

Our comprehensive overland safari combines the numerous endemic and special birds and animals of the dry, western deserts with the moist Okavango region. ARRIVAL AND DEPARTURE DETAILS
This tour does not include any international airfares. Day 1 is essentially an arrival day in Windhoek,
Namibia. However, should you arrive before 11am on day 1, we have some local birding we will do in
the afternoon around Windhoek. Further meeting details in this regard will be forwarded to you in due course. The tour will conclude by 11am at Livingstone International Airport, Zambia on the day 18. If you wish to arrive early and/or depart late and would like assistance in this regard kindly contact the office.
Windhoek (Hosea Kutako International Airport) is the main port of entry for international flights into Namibia. The more reliable airlines with the most direct routing for these flights are Air Namibia and
South African Airways. For departure from Livingstone (Zambia), the best routing is through
Johannesburg (OR Tambo International Airport). We have the capacity to advise you on the best route
according to your preferences, but your local travel agent will best be able to book these flights for you.
If you would like further assistance kindly contact the office, we have a full-time in-house travel consultant that will happily help you plan your route. However, please DO NOT book your international flights until you have consulted the office for confirmation on the
status of the tour.
As noted above, gratuities (drivers, hotel staff, porters and restaurants) are included on this tour.
However, this does NOT include your leader/s. If, therefore, you feel that he/they have
given you excellent service, it is entirely appropriate to tip them.
Much of our time is spent in a specially converted overland Toyota Dyna Truck, as we do have
to cover long distances in order to get to the best areas for birds and animals. However, the
vehicle is fairly spacious with large windows and pop-up rooftops which allows for great bird
and mammal viewing. Despite this, we recommend that you do not over-pack for the comfort of
your fellow travellers and yourself. Kindly stick to 20kg (44lb) for check in luggage and 8kg
(+-18lb) for hand luggage.
During the tour, we visit several national parks and game reserves which contain potentially
dangerous animals and therefore you are confined to the vehicle and are, quite understandably,
not allowed to exit except at designated viewing and picnic sites.
Temperatures in Namibia, Botswana and Zambia can be very high at this time of year, especially when compared to the cooler winter months. If you suffer easily from heat exposure, please do contact the RBT office for more information
