Day 2: Jerash/Madaba. A magnificently preserved example of a provincial Roman centre, the ancient walled town of Jerash offers a remarkable insight into life 2,000 years ago. Famous for its Ottoman-style houses and beautiful Byzantine-era mosaics, the historical town of Madaba has a friendly village atmosphere.
Days 3-5: Petra. Hewn out of the rose-coloured rock face, the ancient city of Petra is one of the Middle East's most spectacular destinations
Day 6: Aqaba. Blessed with idyllic beaches and world-class dive spots, the resort town of Aqaba is Jordan's seaside playground and a fun place to chill out.
Day 7: Wadi Rum. Full of weird and beautiful lunar-like rock formations, Wadi Rum is home to some of the most sublime desert landscape on the planet.
Days 8-9: Amman.
