If you want to experience the thrill of Kruger National Park and a lot more, this is the tour for you. Over a period of 5 days we will show you Kruger in all its vastness, as well as get up close and personal with many of the game species found in the park. Timbavati brings a whole new dimension to game viewing, as we take you off road to within a few meters of the Big 5. Watching a pride of Lion feed on a Buffalo just a few meters away in an open vehicle, gives you a real sense of how harsh survival in the African bush can be, and places in perspective just how insignificant we are in the natural order of things.

Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: We depart from your hotel in Johannesburg and head straight into the Kruger National Park. Our first night will be spent at the Lower Sabie Camp over looking the Sabie River.

Day 2: We continue through the park towards Satara, which will be our next stopover, but not before traveling through an area reputed for having the highest concentration of lions in the world.

Days 3 - 4: We leave the public section of Kruger and make our way to the Timbavati area, where we will spend the next two nights. Before entering the Timbavati we visit the Hoedspruit Cheetah Breeding Project. This project has become the saving grace of more than just the Cheetah, as it now does work with most of the African cat species as well as with many more endangered animals like the Wild Dog and critically endangered bird species. Once in the Timbavati, the change is dramatic. Game viewing is done in open safari vehicles and the camp size is so small (24 guests), it feels more like home than a rest camp. Nothing is fenced off so it is not uncommon to have Hyena coming into camp to try wash the dishes after supper. Sightings are close, as the 4x4 game viewers go off road to view animals like Lion, Leopard, Buffalo, Rhino, Elephant, Cheetah and Wild Dog. A highlight is the sunset drives, where we depart from camp at about 15h00 and stop for drinks and some snacks just before sunset to recharge us for the night drive, which commences as soon as the sun is down and everybody is ready. We return to camp for supper (about 19h00), but this depends on what we see. If we come across something special like Lion on a hunt, then supper can wait.

Day 5: We give you a choice of either continuing game viewing for the morning, or we have a very short morning drive and then head off to view the Panorama Route. This is a longer route back to Johannesburg, but offers views of the Blyde River Canyon from places with names as good as the actual views, like God's Window and Three Rondavels. Either way we return to Johannesburg where we will be happy to drop you off at your hotel or if necessary at the airport.

Notes:
Airfare is not included in the tour price.

This tour is fully inclusive and offers 3 meals a day, along with many "snack stops". Other than the game viewing in Timbavati the tour is done in a VW Caravel with air-conditioning.
