If you are a nature lover, this has got to be the best tour on offer. It covers six major game reserves, from the world renowned Kruger National Park to Hluhluwe Imfolozi Game Reserve, which is not only the oldest game reserve in South Africa but is also responsible for single-handedly saving both the Black and White Rhino from extinction. The tour also allows you to enjoy pristine beaches, located in the middle of a world heritage site.
Tour Itinerary: Days 1 - 2: We depart from Johannesburg and make our way to the Timbavati, where we will spend the next two nights in a private game lodge. We will explore this private section of the Greater Kruger Park in open safari vehicle and, where necessary, venture off-road to obtain close sightings of some of the more endangered species. We will also experience the African wilderness at night by doing two night drives. Day 3: We depart from the Timbavati and enter the public sector of Kruger National Park. This night will be spent on the banks of the Sabie River, in the Lower Sabie Rest Camp. Before entering Kruger we will also visit the Hoedspruit Cheetah Breeding Project. In addition to the research and effort they have put into protecting the cheetah from extinction, they are also responsible for taking on other endangered species such as the Wild Dog and most of the cat species. Day 4: We leave Kruger and make our way through Swaziland towards KwaZulu-Natal, where our first stop over will be Itala Game Reserve. Days 5 - 6: We continue south and enter the game reserve which became famous in the 1960's with its "Operation Rhino". Today it is believed that about four fifths of the world's Black and White Rhino originate from this park, Hluhluwe Imfolozi Game Reserve. Not unlike Kruger, this park is so big that it would do it a great injustice to spend less than two nights here, allowing us to explore the diverse fauna and flora. On the second night we will join the reserve rangers for a night drive. Days 7 - 8: We enter the St Lucia Wetland Park, which has been granted world heritage status. The park is home to South Africa's largest Hippo and Crocodile populations. We will spend the next two nights right on the unspoilt beaches and dunes of this beautiful park. While in the park, we will venture up the estuary on a cruise to view the many hippos and crocs. Day 9: We leave this little piece of paradise and continue our journey south towards Durban, but not before making one last stop. We visit ShakaLand, a Zulu Cultural Village. That night we join the people of the village in a traditional feast of eating and dancing. This was also the sight where the movie "Shaka" was made. Day 10: We finally reach Durban, also known as the Sunshine City. The afternoon will be spent touring the city. That evening we embark on a cruise of the harbor, which is the biggest port in South Africa. Day 11: We visit the Indian Market and then the Natal Sharks Board, before ending the tour with a memorable feast. Notes: Package includes:
