The land made famous by the Richard Feynman book “Tuva or Bust” and known by philatelists for its unusual stamps. It is remote and difficult to get to, and our 10 day itinerary will show you the highlights of this area which claims to have the geographic ‘center of Asia’ located in its territory. Highlights include meeting a local shaman and attending a performance of the famed throat singing!
Tour Itinerary
Day 1: Depart USA by international flight.
Day 2: Arrive Moscow. After clearing customs you will be met and transferred to the hotel Ukraine.
Day 3: Free day to enjoy Moscow on your own till transfer to the airport for the flight Krasnoyarsk.
Day 4: Arrive Krasnoyarsk where you will be met and taken to the hotel Oktyabrskaya. Balance of day free or take an optional tour of the city.
Day 5: Transfer to the airport for the short flight to Tuva. On arrival in Kyzyl you will be met and transferred to a small private hotel.
Days 6-8: During your stay in Kyzyl you will have half day sightseeing included each day with an English speaking guide. You will attend a throat singing concert, visit to a Shaman's clinic and visit a family yurt to see some of the traditional Tuvan lifestyle. There will also be displays of horseriding skills for you and a visit to the small National History museum.
If possible we will arrange a meeting with Dr Mogush Kenin Lopsan depending on his schedule. He is a shaman doctor who is well known in USA. Also a visit to a Budhist temple to meet a Lama and a visit to the mineral springs and National Park and the obelisk marking the 'center of Asia'.
Day 9: Transfer to the airport and morning flight to Krasnoyarsk. On arrival you will be taken to the hotel Oktyabrskaya. Balance of day at leisure.
Day 10: Transfer to the airport for the flight to Moscow and on to USA the following day or begin extension to Siberia and/or Mongolia as follows.
Trans-Siberian Express Extension Itinerary
Day 10: Fly to Irkutsk. On arrival transfer to hotel Baikal-Intourist.
Day 11: Today you have a day trip to beautiful Lake Baikal where you can enjoy lunch at the hotel overlooking the lake. Some free time is included so you can stroll around the fishing village of Listvyanka and make new friends.
Day 12: Morning transfer to the train station to board the 'Trans-Siberian Express' for the ride across the far stretches of Siberia into the Russian Far East.
Days 13-15: On board the train.
Day 16: On arrival in Vladivostok you will be met and transferred to the hotel Vladivostok.
Day 17: Free day to explore this fascinating city on your own or take one of the optional tours available.
Day 18: Transfer to the airport for your departure flight to USA.
Mongolia & China Extension Itinerary
Day 10: Fly to Irkutsk. On arrival transfer to hotel Intourist.
Day 11: Today you have a day trip to beautiful Lake Baikal where you can enjoy lunch at the hotel overlooking the lake. Some free time is included so you can stroll around the fishing village of Listvyanka and make new friends. Evening transfer to the train station for the ride south into Mongolia.
Day 12: On board the train.
Day 13: Arrive Ulan Bator at approximately 6.20AM.You will be met and taken to the Bayangol hotel. After freshening up you will have an introductory tour of the city and it's many fascinating sights including the Gandan Monastery, the national museum and the Bogdo Khan Palace. In the evening we have included a visit to a traditional Folk Dancing concert.
Day 14: Further touring in the city, or take an optional out of town excursion to the countryside with a chance to meet some of the nomadic local people and have a chance to stay overnight in the Mongolian 'gers'.
Day 15: Transfer to train station for departure of the 'International' train bound for Beijing.
Day 16: Arrive Beijing approximately 3.30PM. You will be met and taken to the centrally located New World Courtyard hotel or similar. Balance of day at leisure.
Day 17: Transfer to the airport for your flight back to USA.

Airfare is not included in the tour price.
Tour Cost: 1/ 10 day Moscow/Tuva/Moscow - $ 2680; 2/ 18 day Tuva/Trans-Siberian - $ 3870; 3/ 17 day Tuva/Mongolia/China - $ 4130. Prices are based on using 2-berth accomodations on the train and hotels as noted in itinerary (single rates available, please enquire). If you prefer to share in 4-berth accomodations it will be a little less expensive. Alternative hotel choices may be possible as long as any additional costs are acceptable to you.
Included: Hotels as mentioned with breakfast daily, sleeper train ticket in first class 2-berth 'soft' compartments or 'day sitters' where available or best available elsewhere, transfers upon arrival and departure in each city, sightseeing and lunches as mentioned in itinerary.
Not Included: Visa fees, international airfares, airport taxes, sightseeing and meals other than mentioned above, services of a personal nature such as laundry, telephone calls, etc. or anything else not specifically mentioned as being included.
