Day 1: Arrival in Cusco and Sacred Valley. Included is your flight from Lima to Cuzco. You’ll soon arrive in Cuzco, a UNESCO city at an elevation of 11,440 feet. Upon arrival we provide a complimentary transfer to a central hotel location where it will be possible for a shower and refresh after your flight. We suggest for group participants to arrive as early as they can if they would also like to have a walk around the centre plaza and cathedrals. In the afternoon after all our group have arrived and had the chance to relax we will transfer by bus to Sacred Valley, for hotel registration and dinner. Dinner included this evening.
Day 2: Sacred Valley Community Cleaning Project. After an early breakfast, we will be met by the local community guide at the hotel and then be transferred to a store. Here well each buy three different big size buckets and plastic bags, which will be used to store and carry garbage. Then we will proceed to go to the selected community. Here we will be met by a member of the family they will help, who will direct us to their property. Here, with the help of family members, we will start cleaning the property of any invasive material that can be considered garbage. Afterwards we will return to the house and teach family members how to select and separate garbage into plastics, metals and bio degradable garbage and then store them in the three buckets previously bought. A box lunch will be provided. In the afternoon, passengers will plan with the family members where and how they will build the compost-producing structure. All tools and materials will be provided by the family. At the end of today, we will go to a major town accompanied by a family member of the community, where they will take the plastics that will be sold or donated to the local recycling company, and then the family member will be able to do that the next time by himself, making it sustainable. The money that they will get will be given to the family the next morning. Finally, we will return to their hotel. Dinner at hotel.
Day 3: Sacred Valley Community Cleaning Project. Today we start yoga with an easy introductive session. After breakfast, we will again transfer to the community, in order to start building the compost-producing structure with the help of the family. We will work hand in hand with family members in order to build the structure where they will store the biodegradable garbage that in the future will turn to a very effective and natural fertilizer for their crops. At the end, passengers will teach family members how to produce the compost and how to use it in their farming fields as a fertilizer. A box lunch will be provided and in the afternoon will be transferred back to their hotel for a spa, massage or healing session. Dinner at Hotel.
Day 4: Lares Valley & Machu Picchu Trek – Hot Springs to Wacawasi. Early morning group Yoga before breakfast. Later after checkout we travel to Aguas Termales Lares. We spend the morning in the medicinal hot springs, and after lunch we have four hours of trekking to our campsite.
Day 5: Lares Valley & Machu Picchu Trek – Wacawasi to Epsaycocha. Early morning group Yoga before breakfast. After continuing up through the valley, we arrive at the community of Wacawasi. People here produce some of the finest weavings in Peru. We will observe their great skills and brilliant techniques as they make ponchos and other garments. Passing the village we begin climbing up to Condor Pass, the second pass of the trip at 4300 m. From here, we catch a stunning view of the renowned Mount Veronica (5750 m.) Descending gently for about one hour, we come to the beautiful Epsaycocha Lake, our last campsite.
Day 6: Lares Valley & Machu Picchu Trek – Epsaycocha to Aguas Calientes. Early morning group Yoga before breakfast. Today our trail leads downhill to an overlook facing a wide valley. Descending into the valley, we eventually arrive at the community of Willoq, where we have lunch. Finally arriving to Ollantaytambo. Situated in a fertile river valley and sheltered by mammoth mountains, this ancient Inca village is considered one of the most important living museums in the world, here the group takes the train to Aguas Calientes and spend the night at one of the best hotels in the area for a comfortable night sleep after our rewarding trek of the valley. In the evening we will enjoy a traditional eucalyptus sauna, massage or natural treatment before dinner.
Day 7: Machu Picchu Citadel. This morning before dawn we will travel to the citadel of Machu Picchu for sunrise. We will select a quiet scenic location for morning photos and yoga. This will be an experience you’ll never forget. We will have a box breakfast before the start on our two hour guided visit. Each person will also receive a spiritual blessing at Machu Picchu from a community chief. Afternoon return to Cusco by train. Arrival to Poroy´s train station and transfer to the hotel, dinner at Hotel.
Day 8: Cusco City Tour and Nearby Ruins. Tour of Cusco and Nearby Ruins – Visitors are caught up in the excitement of touring the ancient capital of the Inca Empire, a delightful combination of Inca and colonial architecture. The tour visits important landmarks such us Cusco's Cathedral, Plaza de Armas and Koricancha “The Temple of the Sun”. This tour of the oldest continuously inhabited city in the western hemisphere also includes the nearby ruins of Kenko, Puca-Pucara, Tambomachay as well as the Sacsayhuaman fortress, an imposing example of Inca military architecture. Lunch is included today. Dinner at Tunupa - Enjoy our restaurant in the Imperial city of Cusco, where you can taste the best creole and novoandean food, with the best panoramic view of the Main Square.
Day 9: Departure from Cuzco. Transfer to the airport for your departure flight back home or your next destination. Remember great memories of the rich tradition of Peru, the community you helped, the snow capped roaring Andean mountains and lush valleys, and the zig-zag road to the overwhelming sight of Machu Picchu, the amazing legacy the Incas. More than anything you’ll remember the great experience you had and the like minded fellow individuals shared it with.
Additionally included in this particular tour: Flight from Lima to Cuzco, community Project participation, tent, mattress and sleeping bag for trek, porters to carry and set up equipment for our trek.
