This trip is partly center-based and partly point to point, combining what’s best in our offer of cycling trips. Three days of riding in the higher parts of the mountains and a stay in a hotel located literally “in the middle of nowhere.” After biking, we ride to Karpacz, a lively mountain town, where we can go for a drink or a beer to one of the many bars. From Karpacz, we travel to the bottom of the valley and stay at a palace situated in the Rudawski Landscape Park. Find out for yourself how fantastic a combination this is.

Day 1.

Arrival at Wroclaw, where our representative will greet you; transfer to a guesthouse located in Jakuszyce, a mountain village on the Polish side of the Sudety Mountains; check-in, welcome meeting, briefing, and free time. Transfer time: approximately 2 hrs. 30 min.

Day 2.

Bike rides along routes in the higher parts of the mountains
Total time: 3 – 4 hrs including meal breaks and rest.
Overall route length: 24 km.
Routes: mixed land and tarmac roads with a majority of off-road sections.

After breakfast, we get on our bikes and set off. The first part of our trip, about 1/3 of the entire route, follows gentle downhill forest roads to the town of Harrachov. On our way, somewhere in the woods, we cross Poland’s border with the Czech Republic. After a bit of riding along the streets of the village, we get to the bridge over the Jizera river. We go across the bridge and take a forest road along the Jizera valley. From Harrachov to Jizerka we travel along mostly horizontal or mildly rising routes. At the end of the route (about 300 m), we go along a steeper slope. After resting in the picturesque settlement of Jizerka, we set off on the final leg of the trip. Approximately 80 m of the trail is a very rocky and quite steep terrain so we can just as well get off the bikes and push them down the hill. At the bottom, we go across the bridge over the Jizera River, and again cross the border. Next, we ride along the beautiful river, then we pass a mountain village Orle, and head back to the forest trails leading to our hotel.

Day 3.

Bike rides along routes in the higher parts of the mountains
Total time: 3 – 4 hrs including meal breaks and rest.
Overall route length: 21 km.
Routes: mixed land and tarmac roads with a majority of off-road sections.

Today, we will also ride along the routes of the Jizera Mountains and around the Jizera River. We start the trip with a gentle climb to the intersection of trails at the Cicha Równia (Silent Plain) and then, we head towards the junction with the Owczy Potok (Lamb Brook). All the time, we go along gravel roads, which lead through a dense young forest. Next, we get the Biała Droga (White Way), which leads through an old forest and reaches bogs and wetlands. Leaving the bogs and wetlands behind, we join the international bike trail ER-2. We get to the open space in the valley of the Jizera River and stop at the Hatka Górzystów shelter, surrounded by wild meadows of the plateau. After a rest, we continue the trip through Jizera Valley enjoying the picturesque views and surroundings. In this beautiful place, we will have an opportunity to rest on the bank of the river. After about 2 more kilometers, we will go pass the Orle settlement and enter a high spruce forest. After mild downhill and uphill climbs, we will reach the last intersection of forest roads, and after another 2 kilometers, we will get to the hotel. The route is quite easy, very pleasant and very scenic. At the request of advanced cyclists and volunteers, we can add a loop that leads through a closed, old quartzite mine located at the height of 1085 m. You have to overcome quite difficult climbs and descents but the reward is a breathtaking view of the mountains and Jelenia Góra Valley.

Day 4.

Trip from Jakuszyce to Karpacz
Total time: 5 – 6 hrs including meal breaks and rest.
Overall route length: 48 km.
Routes: international cycling route ER-2, mixed land and tarmac roads with a majority of off-road sections.

Today’s route passes through scenic areas of Jizera and Karkonosze Mountains, ranges of the Western Sudetes. After leaving the hotel, we get the international cycling route ER-2, which we will follow to the end of today’s stage. After about a 2-km ride, at the height of 900 m, we descend to the mountain town of Szklarska Poręba. We ride through the town and then enter a forest. On the way, we pass by two picturesque mountain settlements, Przesieka and Borowice, and finally get to Karpacz. In the town, we make a short stop to see the Wang temple, a twelfth-century Lutheran temple built in Norway. The temple was dismantled and moved to Berlin before finally finding its place in our mountains in 1842. After a break, we ride for about 10 minutes until we reach Greno hotel. We check in, have dinner, and a briefing regarding the next day.

Day 5.

Day off. Rest and relax in Karpacz. We reccommend hotel’s spa facilities and pool. Also walk around the town, visit to shops and bar/restaurants.

Day 6.

Trip from Karpacz to Wojanów
Total time: 2 – 3 hrs including meal breaks and rest.
Overall route length: 19 km.
Route: marked cycling routes 120/117/119 – mostly tarmac roads, some land road sections.

Today’s route will be less demanding so that everybody can recuperate before tomorrow’s trip. After breakfast, we travel for around 20 km to get to Wojanów Palace, our next place of residence. It is located in the Rudawski Landscape Park, which we will explore the following day. After checking in, there will be some free time to relax, enjoy the swimming pool and spa or go for a walk around the park and the surrounding area. And if you fancy a horseback ride, you are free to indulge yourself. There is another palace complex nearby, where you can visit a shop with local products and a restaurant. In the evening, we have dinner and a barbecue by the campfire.

Day 7.

Loop around Rudawski Landscape Park
Total time: 5 – 6 hrs including meal breaks and rest.
Overall route length: 41 km.
Route: 118 marked cycling route; mostly tarmac roads, some land road sections.

Today’s route is quite difficult but your effort will be immediately rewarded with beautiful landscapes and surroundings. The Rudawski Landscape Park offers beautiful nature and a lot of extremely varied routes winding along rivers, through villages, and deep woods or hills covered with meadows. The route network is quite dense, which gives freedom of choice and allows us to reach many interesting places, such as viewpoints located on rock formations, or ruins of medieval castles.
