The Valpelline valley is in Northern Italy and runs up to the Swiss border from the town of Aosta. It is a real gem of the Alps and little known as a ski touring destination.
There is a wide variety of stunning ski touring itineraries available from the hut. As a finale we move up to the Rifugio Aosta and have a crack at the Dent d’Herens, the impressive neighbour of the Matterhorn and a big tick ski mountain. A big bonus of this week is the likelihood that we will by and large have the slopes to ourselves!

The advanced level ski tours are challenging tours and only suitable for those who have previously completed at least 1 multi-day ski tour.
Advanced off-piste skiing ability in all conditions is essential.

The advanced level ski tours are nearly all hut-to-hut. You will be hiking uphill for several hours each day using skins and carrying a pack weighing 7-10kgs so physical fitness is very important.
Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Travel to Bionaz, the highest village in the Valpeline valley and check into the hotel Valentino. In the evening you will meet up with your Mountain Tracks guide for an initial briefing and review of the itinerary.
Day 2: We taxi up to the end of the road by the Place Moulin dam. From here the Rifugio Prarayer is an easy 1 hour skin up the road. After coffee we set off on a short shake down tour to Bella Tza. En route we will practice avalanche search and rescue. Stay at the Prarayer.
Days 3, 4 & 5: There are a wide selection of fabulous day tours from Prarayer to chose from including excursions to peaks such as Chateau des Dames and Becca Vanetta. We stay all three nights at Prarayer.
Day 6: A gentler day spent reaching the Rifugio Aosta at the head of the valley and our launching pad for the Dent d’Herens.
Day 7: A alpine start for our attempt on the Dent d’Herens, a stunning peak affording great views of the Pennine Alps. We descend all the way to Bionaz and re-acquaint ourselves with the Hotel Valentino.
Day 8: Depart after breakfast
We will make every endeavour to carry out the above itinerary but alterations may have to be made owing to weather and snow conditions.

The price includes: Guiding fees & expenses, 7 nights HB accommodation, taxi ride on day 1
The price does not include: equipment hire, personal insurance, travel to/from Bionaz, lunches and beverages, uplift/transport costs (except taxi day 1)
