Skill/Stamina
Skill: ****
The advanced level ski tours are challenging tours and only suitable for those who have previously completed at least 1 multi-day ski tour.
Advanced off-piste skiing ability in all conditions is essential.
Stamina: ***
Most of our progression-level & advanced-level off-piste weeks and intermediate ski tours are of this level of strenuousness. You must be able to cope with continuous, long days out on the hill. On a ski touring week you need to fit enough to cope with up to 3-4 hours of mountain walking or ski-touring up-hill carrying a backpack with all you need for a week staying in mountain huts.
Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrive and meet up in Moutiers. Stay overnight in a hotel in the town.
Day 2: Use lift system and skins to ascend before a superb descent of the Gebroulaz glacier and on to the stunning Refuge Roc de la Peche.
Day 3: Big climb onto the Glacier du Vanoise (a mini ice-cap), cross this and descend to the Refuge Dent Parrache
Day 4: Climb back up onto the "ice-cap" and traverse to the Col de la Vanoise refuge
Day 5: Ski ascent and descent (ideally from the summit) of the Grande Casse, the highest peak in the region. Stay a second night in the Col de la Vanoise refuge.
Day 6: Move on to the Refuge de la Femma in the center of the Park.
Day 7: Ascents of either the Pointe de La Sana or Mean Martin finishing up in Val d'Isere and returning by road to Moutiers.
Day 8: Depart after breakfast
We will make every endeavour to carry out the above itinerary but alternations may have to be made depending on the weather and snow conditions.
