This is a week of off-piste skiing and coaching combined with practical mountain awareness and safety. The week is ideal for adventurous intermediate skiers looking to boost their off-piste skills.
Tour Itinerary 5 full days of off-piste skiing & instruction. There is also 1 'freeskiing' day when no instruction is provided. Ste Foy boasts superb snow quality, unparalleled tree skiing and is rarely crowded. The itinerary will depend on the snow conditions and the level & ambitions of the group. As well as skiing in Ste Foy you also have easy access to the world class resorts of Tignes, Val d'Isère, La Rosière and the twin resorts of Les Arcs & La Plagne - all of which provide extensive off-piste descents. The principal aims of this week are: - To provide first class instruction from top British Instructors and/or Mountain Guides to improve off piste skiing technique. - To give practical mountain awareness training particularly for avalanches. - To provide the opportunity to ski the best off piste in the Tarentaise Region. Accommodation and meals: You will be staying in the Auberge sur la Montagne which is a fantastic private chalet run by Andy and Sue Mac. They provide excellent food - breakfast, afternoon teas and evening meal with wine (6 nights). Other facilities include large communal lounge with open fire and an outdoor hot tub. The chalet has private transport which will be used to take you to the slopes each morning and collect you exhausted but exhilarated at the end of the day! Andy also has a good selection of skis & boots to rent. Equipment: A copy of our recommended kit list will be sent to you at the time of booking. Standard alpine downhill gear is suitable for the beginner-level courses although if the group all elects to ski on touring gear you will be able to access some great off-piste runs that require some walking. All skiers will need to carry a small day sack (max 25 litres) containing their safety gear and any personal items e.g. camera. Everyone is expected to ski at all times with the three essential items of avalanche safety equipment; transceiver, shovel and probe. If you ski off-piste regularly we recommend you purchase your own set. We use and recommend the DTS Tracker and can offer you these at a discounted rate. Alternatively the guides do usually have a number of sets available for hire. If you need to hire this kit, you must let us know in advance. Notes: The price includes: 5 full days guiding and instruction, 7 nights half-board accommodation (6 evening meals) in fully catered chalet, daily ski transfers in private vehicle, Group transfer from Geneva airport (minimum 4 people), pick-up/drop-off at Bourg St Maurice (For ski-train). The price does not include: Lift pass, lunches, personal insurance, equipment hire, international travel
