3 hours a day off-piste instruction from top British teachers who know what they are talking about. Ski with us, not following behind us - learning, being encouraged, challenged and above all having fun, is what our courses aspire to.
It’s not ski school: we ‘go skiing’ in a small, friendly groups (average 6/7, max is 8) at your level, learning how to tackle the conditions that you may have problems with, giving you tools and techniques to improve, help and give you the confidence on those slopes that you feel ‘you never quite manage to master’.
Feedback and Video Evenings:
Every evening, except Wednesdays, we provide an optional, informal session that allows us to clarify the days activities, possibly revise the course to fit individual needs and look through any video footage. These sessions are a huge help to learning and great fun over a drink or two.
Our instructors will organise an optional welcome meeting on the evening of your arrival in resort. This is a chance for us to let you know all about the course ahead, the snow, weather conditions, to arrange the groups for the first day, to recommend ski equipment if you are hiring and for you to ask any questions.
Together with its famous neighbour Val d’Isere, Tignes is served by the 300 km of piste that make up the Espace Killy, one of Europe’s premier ski areas. Tignes itself is a high altitude resort. The village is at 2100 m and the highest point is over 3400 m. Due to its height and the local glaciers Tignes has a very reliable snow record. It is the preferred destination for early season (November) skiing when you’ll share the pistes with most of the international race teams and groups of instructors preparing for the new season. The ski area is known for its excellent off-piste most of which is accessible from the lift system. There are also some excellent day tours to neighbouring valleys and resorts including the twin resorts of Les Arcs and La Plagne.
The Level 4 Off-Piste Performance courses were previously called "Off-Piste Beginner". These courses are ideal for skiers who have never skied off-piste or have limited off-piste experience (less than 2 weeks). All participants need to be competent on-piste, capable of skiing parallel at a steady pace on all red runs whatever the conditions and easy black runs. These weeks will be run by Ski Instructors with focus on comprehensive off-piste instruction.
Level 5 courses are aimed at skiers with some off-piste experience (e.g. completed a Performance Level 4 course or similar) and who are looking for further intensive off-piste instruction. These weeks will be run by Ski Instructors and the focus will be on selecting terrain that will really challenge you and take your skiing to the next level.
The performance level 6 courses are for strong all-round skiers with excellent fitness. You should be able to ski off-piste confidently on all but the steepest slopes and the trickiest conditions. These weeks will be led by Ski Instructors and the focus will be getting you to a level where you can ski confidently on all terrain and all snow types in a smooth and fluid manner.
For the off-piste performance courses you need to have good all round fitness and stamina. We recommend that you prepare for any trip by running, cycling or any other keep-fit activity. Generally the fitter you are, the more fun you will have.
Moving Levels During the Course: We try to encourage movement between groups during the course if necessary. So if you are looking for greater challenges or would like to take it easier we have that flexibility.
It's Your Course: Remember it's your course. You know how fast you want to ski, what challenges you would like to make, what aspect of skiing you would like to improve. Don't worry about 'not being able to keep up' or on the other hand 'not being challenged enough'. We will design the course around you.
Coming on the Course by Yourself: Don't worry if you are on your own, it's a great way to ski with people of similar standard and there are always others to ski with outside of the course. Many clients come by themselves year after year, it’s a formula that works!
Different Levels Amongst your Partners and Friends: Many couples and groups consist of skiers of different levels. Our courses are a great way to spend a skiing holiday. No more frustration of 'not being able to keep up' or skiing 'too slowly on easy runs'. You can ski with others who are the same level as yourself and still have time to ski with partners and friends outside of the course.
Your age & fitness?: Fitness - If you are concerned about your fitness at all please speak to us, email us. It is better to drop or raise your level slightly if you feel you are below or above average fitness. Call us to discuss if you are at all concerned about your age or fitness.
Hiring Ski Equipment: Having the right equipment, both for your level and the type of skiing that you plan to do is vital in helping you to develop your performance as quickly as possible. Our instructors will be available at the welcome evening prior to the start of the course, it is advisable to wait until you have spoken to them if you are at all unsure of what equipment to hire.
