Guest may spend 2-6 nights floating and fishing one of several rivers in northern Patagonia and the remaining days enjoying a luxurious ranch or lodge. The fishing, food, guides and Argentina's wild Patagonia backcountry astound our guests. They inevitably say it was the best part of their Patagonia experience. Our float trips can last 2 to 6 nights on several different rivers. We provide all camping equipment and carry our gear in a separate raft so that fishing boats have ample space. Our baggage boatman will pass anglers after lunch to ensure camp is set up and refreshments and hors d'oeuvres are waiting upon arrival. You may relax by the fire or keep fishing while dinner is cooked. Meals are traditional Argentine cuisine made fresh every day by our professional chef. Northern Patagonia is considered the area around Bariloche and north to the town of Neuquen. The popular towns anglers visit in this area are Junin, San Martin de los Andes and Bariloche. The area of Bariloche is one of the major trout fishing centers in Patagonia. The town of Bariloche lies on the 250 square mile Nahuel Huapi Lake that has hundreds of trout filled feeder streams and major rivers in the vicinity. The diverse waters, large wild trout and extracurricular activities and resources available make this area an choice for any traveling angler.
Your Itinerary:
Day 1: Arrive Buenos Aires where our representative will greet you and help transfer you to the domestic airport for your flight to Bariloche. Bariloche Airport pick-up, hotel check-in. Quick tour of Bariloche, rest, go out for group dinner.
Day 2: Float expedition begins: Fish the Caleufu River
Days 3 – Day 4: Fish the Caleufu River.
Day 5: Float trip ends. Transfer to Rio Manso Lodge in the afternoon.
Day 6: Fish the Manso River.
Day 7: Fish the Fonck Lake.
Day 8: Fish a different section of the Manso River.
Day 9: Departure out of the Bariloche Airport to Buenos Aires.
Note:
Air Travel and Arrival: Traveling to Argentina is very safe and easier than flying to Europe because of similar time zones. From the east coast of the United States, a flight to Buenos Aires is roughly 9 hours and during the night. In Buenos Aires, you will arrive at the international airport where our representative will meet you and help you make the required 40-minute transfer by car to the domestic airport. This transfer costs $50.00 USD for 3 or less persons and 80.00 USD for 4 or more persons. From there, you will take a scenic two-hour flight to Bariloche where your guides will meet you.
Argentina Travel Documents: No immunizations or visas are required to visit Argentina or Chile, however, you are required to have a valid passport.
Currency: The Argentine money is the peso, which is now fluctuating around 2.83. Check a major newspaper for the status of the peso. All your personal purchases should be made with cash, either dollars or pesos. Currency exchange houses can be found in airports or in towns.
Health Issues: There are no immunizations required for entry into Argentina. For the latest information on health and immunization requirements worldwide, you may visit the Center for Disease Control web site at www.cdc.gov. Because you may be in remote locations make sure you bring any required medications and basic first aid supplies. Although your guides will have epinephrine pins and are trained to use them, we advise carrying a personal epi pin if you are allergic to any kind of insect sting.
Travel Insurance: Travel insurance is always wise to purchase when traveling extensively. Fly Fishing Patagonia highly recommends all visitors purchase travel insurance. Please note that although Argentina and Chile are safe countries and that your hosts take every precaution necessary to ensure your well being, unexpected events do happen. Most people use travel insurance to cover travel upsets such as delayed or canceled flights, lost luggage and medical emergencies. All medications you might want or require should be brought with you. You can be further prepared by buying complete travel insurance that includes medical evacuations.
