Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Home / Dakar. Depart home for Dakar.

Day 2: Dakar. Arrive at Dakar airport. Welcome at the immigration area by our representative. You will be transferred to Novotel in Dakar. Day is at leisure.

Day 3: Dakar / Saly. Morning visit of Goree Island, a moving testimony of 300 years of slave trading, in West Africa. Visit the House of Slaves, the Ethnographic Museum, the Memorial of Goree and the Fort. Return to Dakar in early afternoon, and visit Dakar, the capital of Senegal. Stop at the President’s Palace, pass by the Parliament House, the Cathedral, the Great Mosque; go through the popular district of Medina colorful and alive, visit the University and the residential district of Fann with wonderful samples of the new Senegalese architecture. Proceed to the resort of Saly at the end of the afternoon. Dinner and overnight at Hotel Teranga Saly. (B, D)

Day 4: Saly / Toubacouta. Breakfast at your hotel. In the morning, visit traditional villages in the ‘small coast’ area. Meet with chiefs of villages and notables, interact with the people. Visit Kaolack and its typical market rich of medicinal herbs and plants. This afternoon, proceed to Toubacouta visiting Mandingo villages. At the end of afternoon, take a motor canoe tour of the Saloum River to discover its wonderful ornithological sites. Dinner and overnight at Paletuvier Lodge. (B, D)

Day 5: Toubacouta / Banjul Breakfast at hotel. Visit the village of Toubacouta and proceed to border of Senegal and The Gambia. After the formalities, proceed to Juffureh. Visit the mythic village of Alex Haley’s ancestors. Continue to Banjul to arrive in the early afternoon. After checking in to Atlantic Hotel, you will visit Banjul, the capital city of Gambia. Dinner and overnight at Atlantic Hotel. (B, D)

Day 6: Banjul. Morning tour on the Gambia River visiting the bird sanctuaries and some native villages in the creeks of the river. In the afternoon, visit the Mandingo villages near the border with southern Senegal. You will be shown what a naming ceremony consists of and socialize with the people. Visit SOS Children’s Village. Dinner in typical restaurant of Banjul. (B, D)

Day 7: Banjul / Foundiougne / Joal / Saly. After breakfast, leave Banjul. Visit Foundiougne, cross the Saloum River by ferry, and visit traditional Serer villages, Joal and Fadiouth with its granaries. Lunch in Joal. Visit the small town of Mbour in the afternoon (a fi shing town, Mbour is very typical with its fish dryeries and its market). Arrive in Saly in late afternoon. Dinner and overnight at Le Lamantin Beach Resort & Spa. (B, D)

Day 8: Saly / Dakar. Morning and a part of the afternoon is for relaxation. Breakfast and lunch at the resort. Check out in the late afternoon and drive to Dakar where dinner will be provided at Les Almadies Residential District near the airport. You will be transferred to airport for departure. (B, L, D)

Day 9: Dakar / Home. Depart Dakar by early morning flight and arrive home the same day.
