The combination of activity, scenery and cultural immersion makes this journey a unique and unforgettable experience.

ITINERARY

Day 1: Leaving Zagreb or Zadar airport behind, we make our way to Korana Village in Plitvice Lakes National Park. After settling into your accommodations, join other group members for an informal welcome drink and evening snack by the river.

Day 2: A day spent in the Plitvice Lakes National Park, hiking on easy trails along wooden paths and bridges, around 16 emerald green and opal blue lakes, passing along numerous waterfalls and caves. A panoramic boat and train ride will take us back to the start. Later in the afternoon you can enjoy taking a swim in warm water just in front of your house.

Day 3: Embark on a kayaking expedition down the Mreznica River. The journey meanders through a spectacular landscape of forests, open meadows and travertine waterfalls. The calm, clear pools provide plenty of opportunities to cool off with a swim. Later in the day, we will explore the numerous streams and mills of Rastoke on foot.

Day 4: Today we cycle through forests, between hills and across green fields in the Croatian countryside. Our road will lead us to the Barac caves for a guided underground tour. After visiting the caves, we’ll have a picnic lunch and time to relax in a local park. In the afternoon we bike back to Korana Village in time to enjoy a traditional Croatian evening meal. (Please note that cycling the entire route may be too difficult for small children but a support van can pick them up at any time).

Day 5: Today you can be as active or as lazy as you wish. You can relax by the river, swim or even take another optional cycling / biking tour on your own in and around the Plitvice Lakes National Park. A white water rafting trip on Una River in Bosnia or on the Dobra River will be proposed, as well as several walking / hiking, sightseeing or beach trips, in case you are keen on discovering more beauties that Croatia has to offer.

Day 6: We head south for canoeing / kayaking down the magnificent wild-west-like canyons of the Zrmanja River. We push off for an afternoon of refreshing fun on the clear, warm and green waters of this Croatian river, considered one of the most beautiful in Europe. Waterfalls and easy rapids, hidden swimming pools, steep sided canyons and, very likely, no one else on the river but our group – it doesn't get better than this! After the river trip we will stop in Novigrad Bay for a swim in the Adriatic Sea and relaxing on the beach before getting back to Korana Village for a traditional supper.

Day 7: Expedition into the canyon and waterfalls of the upper Mreznica. This is the most beautiful part of the river. We travel down a deep, narrow canyon and bypass cascading waterfalls - up to 10 meters high.

Day 8: Depart from Korana village for the airport and flight home. You are welcome to schedule your homeward transport for any time. If you decide to spend more time in Croatia, our guides will be happy to recommend other beautiful places to visit - especially those you won’t find in tourist guide books.

Accommodation:
Accommodation is provided by the families of Korana Village, a small romantic place hidden away in a valley surrounding both sides of the river in Plitvice Lakes National Park. The houses are small, traditional dwellings with simple rooms in an idyllic setting. The peaceful atmosphere makes for an ideal base from which to explore the surrounding area.
