Our Treasures of Tanzania tour focuses on the annual wildebeest migration in the Serengeti with the provision of two distinct itineraries - one utilizing a private vehicle and guide whilst the other including a fly-in section to the safari. The latter ensures that you are able to get close to the migration at most times of the year whilst the former is best suited to the months of January through June.
Tour Itinerary: Option 1: Private vehicle + guide (8 nights/9 days). Day 1: You will be collected by your guide who will be with you for the duration of your safari. You will drive through to E’Unoto Lodge, a Masai inspired lodge that sits up against the Rift Valley wall and offers a spectacular location and scenes of rural Africa all around. A village and school visit has been pre-arranged at the town of Mto wa Mbu en route - this will be the first in an assortment of interesting and thought provoking cultural interactions whilst on tour. Overnight E’Unoto. Includes: (BB), (D). Day 2: After an early breakfast, take advantage of the morning light to capture the panoramic scenes surrounding the lodge and visit a local Masai village before setting off for Ngorongoro Crater. Arrive for a late lunch and the afternoon at leisure. Overnight Ngorongoro Serena. Includes: (FB). Day 3: Set off early this morning for the morning crater tour followed by a scenic drive to Olmoti and Empakai craters (with picnic lunches) and a chance to make a few village visits and interact with the local Maasai as we make our way to a selection of viewing points. The gate opens at 6am and we will be there waiting to gain entry. Traveling down the descent road you will enjoy lovely vistas and feel the excitement as you approach the Crater floor, where a plethora of wildlife awaits you. Arrive back at the lodge late afternoon. Overnight Ngorongoro Serena. Includes: (FB). Day 4: Morning at leisure. Afternoon crater tour. Overnight Ngorongoro Serena (FB). Day 5: After breakfast we leave the Ngorongoro Crater traveling west to the Serengeti. Possibility of meeting or stopping at other Masai villages en route before arriving for lunch at Ndutu Lodge in the southern Serengeti area for a 4 night stay. Afternoon game drive. Overnight Ndutu Lodge. Includes: (FB). Days 6, 7 and 8: Explore this game rich area and venture out to experience the annual wildebeest migration. The days are spend seeking the myriad of game sightings to to had in this prolific sector of the Serengeti. Overnights at Ndutu Lodge (FB). Day 9: Sadly today is the end of your safari. All good things do come to an end but you will leave having had a once-in–a lifetime experience and having encountered a wealth of animal life and stunning landscapes, as well as new faces and hopefully new friends on safari. Don’t forget to take in the colors, sounds and smells of the African landscape one last time! You will set off early for the drive back to Arusha or you may elect to take a charter flight from Seronera (prices on request) to connect with your onward arrangements, or one of our tour extensions to Zanzibar or the Mahale Mountains (see below). Option 2: Private vehicle + Fly-in Serengeti sector. Day 1: You will be collected by your guide who will be with you for the early section of your safari. You will drive through to Tarangire National Park where you will stay at Swala Camp for a 2 night stay. Afternoon game drive. Overnight Swala Camp. Includes: (FB). Day 2: Game drive activities in the morning and afternoon complemented with excellent food and personal service. Overnight Swala Camp. Includes: (FB). Day 3: After a morning activity and breakfast, you will set off for Ngorongoro to arrive in time for lunch. The road takes you higher and higher, past the scenic region around Lake Manyara and through Karatu, a small town close to the Ngorongoro Crater. A village and school visit has been pre-arranged at the town of Mto wa Mbu along your route. This will be an interesting and thought provoking cultural interaction. Afternoon at leisure. Overnight Ngorongoro Serena (FB). You will transfer to the nearby airstrip for your charter flight back to Arusha or you may elect to fly directly to Zanzibar (speak to us about this option).
