Your Itinerary
Day 1: G'Day! Arrive in Sydney and transfer to your hotel for a day of leisure.
Day 2: Explore the historic Rocks area on a guided walking tour and learn the story of the settlement of New South Wales. In the afternoon, a city tour will take you past the Opera House, Botantical Gardens and Bondi Beach. Overnight in Sydney.
Day 3: Depart in the morning for a drive through rural countryside to reach Canberra, the fully planned Australian national capital. Highlights of the tour include the War Museum, High Court, Parliament House, the "Lodge" -- the Prime Minister's official residence and the Mount Ainslie Lookout. You will return to Sydney late in the evening.
Day 4: Cruise Sydney's Harbor with stops at the Rocks, Opera House, Watson's Bay and Taronga Zoo -- to visit kangaroos and koalas and many other native animals. Spend as long as you like at each destination before rejoining the cruise. The evening is free to enjoy Darling Harbor. Overnight in Sydney.
Day 5: Transfer to the airport for a short flight to Melbourne (airfare is additional). Melbourne is known for great shopping and dining. Day and evening at leisure to explore the city. Overnight in Melbourne.
Day 6: Join a sightseeing tour in the morning to view cathedrals, parks, gardens and historic landmarks. In the afternoon, journey to Phillip Island to see the remarkable "Little Penguin Parade." Overnight in Melbourne.
Day 7: Transfer to the airport in the morning for the flight to Ayers Rock. In the afternoon, tour the Olgas and later, watch the spectacular sunset over "The Rock." Overnight in Ayers Rock.
Day 8: Explore The Rock, with a chance to climb it, if you wish. Learn some of the Aboriginal mythology and legends that surround this region. In the afternoon, depart for Kings Canyon. Overnight in Kings Canyon.
Day 9: In the morning, explore one of the most spectacular gorges in the Northern Territory - Kings Canyon. Travel, in the afternoon, to the legendary Alice Springs. Overnight in Alice Springs.
Day 10: Morning at leisure to explore Alice Springs. Afternoon transfer to airport for flight to Cairns. Upon arrival transfer to your hotel.
Day 11: Experience the Outer Great Barrier Reef aboard a catamaran, with opportunities to snorkel or dive (at additional cost). View the abundant sea life from the underwater observatory and see the coral from a glass bottom boat. Overnight in Cairns.
Day 12: Board the Kuranda train in the morning for a scenic ride to Kuranda, famous for its markets. travel into the towering rainforest on an amphibious army duck. Enjoy an Aussie barbeque lunch and an authentic Aboriginal cultural performance under the canopy of the rainforest. Experience a "Dreamtime" walk with an Aboriginal guide. Learn to throw a Boomerang and see Australian native animals including koalas and kangaroos. End your day with a ride on the Skyrail before returning to Cairns for the evening.
Day 13: Day at leisure to further explore Queensland's tropical North. Overnight in Cairns.
Day 14: Transfer to the airport for your return flight home.
