Southern Africa is a hive of activity and has produced some of the most scenic destinations in the world developed through nature conservation, adventure enthusiasts and the dedication of the local people. This itinerary will take you to two private game reserves, well known for leopard sightings in South Africa, Victoria Falls on the Zambian River, the adventure capital of Africa and a wildlife safari experience in Botswana.

Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Johannesburg, South Africa

Arrive in Johannesburg where we will meet in the international arrivals terminal for a trip briefing. We will assist you in boarding the hotel shuttle to the Airport Grande Hotel. If your flight arrives before 7am, you will be able to connect with a flight to Sabi Sands Private Game Reserve immediately. Typically international flights arrive too late for a connection. However this overnight does offer a chance to acclimatize and have a good night’s rest after your long international flight. Overnight at The Airport Grande Hotel (B).

Day 2: Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve, South Africa

Take the hotel shuttle back to the airport and the domestic departures terminal to check into your flight to Eastgate airport in Hoedspruit, here a driver is waiting to road transfer you to Elephant Plains Game Lodge, situated in Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve. This is Big 5 country and game drives in Sabi Sand brings the visitor closer to lion, leopard, rhino, buffalo and elephant, not to mention the endangered wild “painted dogs” and cheetah. Dinner is announced by drumbeat and is served in the open air boma around a log fire or in the dining room. Outdoor dining is dependent on the weather. Overnight at Elephant Plains Game Lodge (FI).

Day 3: Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve, South Africa

After a morning game drive and a hearty South African breakfast a professional tracker will guide you on an optional bush walk where he will point out some of the smaller animals and explain some of the mysteries of the bush. Alternatively, a lazy morning at the pool may be just as appealing. Enjoy a game drive in the late afternoon and into the evening. The tough 4x4 open safari vehicles can manoeuvre into seemingly inaccessible areas off road to bring you within meters of the resident wildlife. Overnight at Elephant Plains Game Lodge (FI).

Day 4: Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve, South Africa

You again enjoy a morning game drive and breakfast at Elephant Plains before Djuma Bush Lodge come to collect you for another two days of safari. Djuma Bush Lodge, situated in Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve. Guests are accommodated in one of 8 thatched chalets, each with en-suite, air conditioning, overhead fans and mosquito nets. The lodge offers a library and a pool to cool off in the heat of the day. Two viewing decks overlook the African bush and the camp-site water hole. You arrive in time for lunch and the late afternoon game drive. Overnight at Djuma Bush Lodge (FI).

Day 5: Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve, South Africa

The day is started with an early morning game drive with another later in the day and into the early evening. The clear bush air definitely works on the appetite and Bush Lodge offers a full English style buffet breakfast and high tea with savories and cakes, served in the afternoon. An optional nature walk in the bush led by an expert ranger is a great way to observe smaller animals and provides a superb bird watching opportunity. Overnight at Djuma Bush Lodge (FI).

Day 6: Johannesburg, South Africa

After and early morning game drive and breakfast we collect you for a transfer to Eastgate Airport in Hoedspruit and your flight back to Johannesburg. On arrival in Johannesburg, take the Airport Grande Shuttle to the hotel and check in. We will pick you up at 5pm for an early dinner at Moyo restaurant in Johannesburg for some real South African cuisine. Dinner is payable direct. Overnight at The Airport Grande Hotel (B).

Day 7: Victoria Falls, Zambia

Take the familiar shuttle to the airport and check into your flight to Victoria Falls this morning. This is an international flight and you are required to arrive at least 2 hours prior to departure. On arrival at Victoria Falls we will be waiting for you at the airport to road transfer you to the Zambezi Sun Hotel. During peak season (January through mid July), the Zambian side of the Falls is most spectacular. Paths in the rain forest, downstream of the Falls, take you to look out points. Children’s activities and baby sitting available at Camp Kwena for all children 2 – 12 years. Children 2 – 4 must be accompanied by an adult or babysitter arrange by through the hotel. Overnight The Zambezi Sun Hotel - (B).

Day 8: Victoria Falls, Zambia

From the hotel it is only a 5 minute walk to the entrance of Victoria Falls and in peak season the mist from the spray is so thick you can’t see to the other side of The Falls. Perhaps take a helicopter flight for a bird’s eye view of this natural spectacle, (optional extra). Overnight The Zambezi Sun Hotel - (B).

Day 9: Victoria Falls, Zambia

A comprehensive list of activities is available to guests from the day activity center, which may be booked on arrival or with us prior to your departure. Overnight The Zambezi Sun Hotel - (B).

Day 10: Northern Botswana

After breakfast at the hotel we meet you at reception for a road transfer to the Kasane for customs procedures and a small aircraft flight to Northern Botswana and the private concession of Kwando Lebala. The camp is situated next to the Linyanti marshes that form the boundary between Botswana and Namibia. Lebala, meaning wide open spaces, aptly describes the miles of open plains scattered with palms and trees. Overnight Lebala Camp - (FI).

Day 11: Northern Botswana

Seasonal game walks are offered but is left to the discretion of the guides and lodge managers. Fishing is also a very popular sport but the Camp subscribes to a catch and release policy. The afternoon game drive pauses for sundowners (cocktails) and the opportunity to photograph one of Africa’s blazing sunsets. Overnight Lebala Camp - (FI).

Day 12: Northern Botswana

The Wilderness environment is in stark contrast to the luxury and comfort of the camp. Eight luxury tents each with private deck, en-suite bathroom and outside shower, accommodate no more tan 16 guests at any time.
