Tshwane is the new name for Pretoria, South Africa’s political capital. After offering a peaceful sanctuary for hunter-gatherers, its valleys have more recently been home to waves of pioneers: iron-age farmers; Mzilikazi’s empire; Boer settlers; South Africans of all cultures moving to the city in search of work and a better life; our new democratic government. Whether at icons such as Freedom Park or the Union Buildings, or at a small roadside jazz tavern, this city has many fascinating tales to tell.
A full day leisure experience in the Cullinan area, an hour’s drive from Tshwane (Pretoria). Sammy Marks House – extravagant mansion of a dust-to-diamonds entrepreneur.
