Day 1: You depart from LAX in the late evening to Thailand. The adventure begins.
Day 2: In flight to Thailand.
Day 3: You arrive in Bangkok where your guide will meet you and transfer you to your hotel. After you are settled in your hotel, you will be given a brief tour of Bangkok, including the Reclining Buddha Temple. Afternoon: A complimentary Thai Massage or traditional Oil Massage. B, L
Day 4: In the morning you will go on a tour to the incredible Royal Palace and Wat Pra Kaeo. After lunch we will take you backstage at the Cultural Show to see the costumes and to speak with the director. B, L, D
Day 5: We will start the day with the River cruise. After lunch we will take you to the local University Drama dept. to speak with some professors about Thai approach to drama. B, L
Day 6: You will be transferred to the airport and then fly from Bangkok to Chiang Mai where your guide will meet you and transfer you to your 4-star hotel. We will take you to the Old Temple, Wat Doi Suthrep. B, L, D
Day 7: Today you will go to Elephant Safari, complete with a one-hour elephant ride, elephant show and demonstration as well as a short lecture on the future of the elephant. In the late afternoon you will go to the Hill tribe cultural show backstage and meet the director there as well as see the costumes, props, etc. B, L, D
Day 8: Go out to the Minority village areas. This trip will include a stop at the lovely Orchid Gardens and then a visit to the Karen people (with the long necks covered by rings), the Hmong and the Yao people. At the end of the day, you will return to the hotel. B, L, D
Day 9: You will take a flight to Bangkok and then onto Siem Reap. You will start a multi-day tour of the greatest arrays of dramatic sets in the world - Angkor Wat. The tour begins with Angkor Thom, the ancient capital city. Evening: You will be taken on a sunset cruise on the Great Lake and the Submerged Forest. B, D
Day 10: Angkor Wat tour continues: with Angkor Wat, the ancient main temple area. The early afternoon is free. In the late afternoon you will meet the locals who direct the Cambodian cultural show and see their costumes close up. B, D
Day 11: Today you will go to Bantay Srei, which is the pink stone temple area. The intricate stone carvings there are another example of this amazing area. After lunch you will go to Ta Prohm. B, D
Day 12: Today you will fly to Hanoi, and your guide will meet you and transfer you to the hotel in the Old Quarter near Hoan Kiem Lake. After you are settled, you will be taken for a cyclo rickshaw tour of this traditional Old Quarter of Hanoi. The rest of the day is free. B, D
Day 13: You will visit the Ho Chi Minh Museum, Mausoleum and the surrounding grounds (including Ho Chi Minh residences). After lunch visit the Museum of Ethnology. This is a great opportunity to see the ethnic costumes of Vietnam. In the late afternoon you will visit backstage at the Water Puppets theatre and learn about this unique form of drama. Evening option: Water Puppets performance. B, D
Day 14: The day starts with a visit to the Confucius Literature Center also with a small concert of traditional Vietnamese music (complete with traditional ethnic costumes). After lunch, you will go to a Hanoi theatre, meet the director and learn about VN traditional live drama. B, L, D
Day 15: Today you will go on the Halong Bay cruise through the spectacular islands, have lunch in the midst of the beautiful areas and visit the caves. Possibly swim in bay. Then continue onto Cat Ba island and be transfer to your hotel. B, L, D
Day 16: In the morning you will have free time. Late afternoon Ferry to Haiphong. A brief tour of the city and the harbor and drive back to Hanoi - transferred to hotel. B, L, D
Day 17: You are transferred to the airport for your return flight to your home country with a lifetime of wonderful memories. B
