This itinerary is made up of playing golf courses such Durban Country Club, Zimbali Golf Course and San Lameer Golf Course. We also included the new age in golf courses, known as Cross Golf or Cross Country Golf, which is played anywhere but on the designated lush and manicured golf courses, South Africa are boasting about!

What is so great about this sport is that anyone can play, there are no rules and what's more is that it's lots of fun, so you can wind down on your last 3 days as well as enjoy in a Hemmingway - style safari tent in the Hluluwe's Zulu Nyala Game Reserve, situated on the old Laurenco / Marques or Maputo / Durban Routes in the prime land of the King of Zululand.

You may start your self drive African journey, arriving in the coastal city of the East in Durban and head south, approximately 45minutes self drive on good tarred roads to Selborne Hotel, Golf and Spa Resort in Pennington. This beautiful haven is that which nicknames the small "Augusta" of South Africa!

Selborne itself is a beautiful estate and prime golf course overlooking the Indian Ocean, and also has its own private beach club. Little further south, take a day trip to play on the San Lameer Golf course, set in the heart of this unique natural environment. San Lameer offers you everything you would include in a dream course come true. Eighteen memorable holes that weave a natural challenge through the open glades forest and wetlands with the relaxed roar of the Indian Ocean cheering you on during every stroke.

Continue back towards Durban and overnight at the Riverside Hotel, situated above the Umgeni River in Durban North, The Riverside Hotel has unparalleled views across a magnificent green belt, and offers 169 unique rooms with all the comforts associated with a four star hotel. For the non golfer the hotel is very close to the Umgeni Bird Park and Japanese Gardens and of course a mere 5 km drive or walk to beaches and the biggest shopping mall in Southern Africa - Gateway Shopping Centre.

We have included a stay on the Mount Edgecombe Estate at the Fairways Hotel, this is a boutique hotel and the two 18 hole golf courses are only a stone throw away.

Your last stop is over a 2 hour drive to the pristine Hluluwe Area of the North Coast to Zulu Nyala Group Game Reserve . This game reserve or park has 4 of the Big 5, but does not have African lion in the reserve. The experience is still a safari and a choice of different style accommodation is available, we have included the tented safari camp - Hemmingway style in this suggested itinerary.

Get to relax during your last 3 days and soak up the African Sun, turn your hand to some fun Cross county golf - a concept introduced by Torsten Schilling, based in Hamburg, Germany - Naturally Born Golfers. The popularity of this style of golf has taken the South Africans by storm and we find that many international visitors enjoy this variation of the sport as much as the South Africans!
