Starting the tour you will first go through the Sierra Nevada National park, see towns that looks like time has stopped, kids with red cheeks, and green mountains with shades of brown and yellow. After going down to the plains, weather changes slowly, but once you arrive, there you are, imperceptible savannah is in front of you with thousands of animals hiding in the bush, quiet waters with caimans and anacondas waiting for an appetizer. Take your camera, but more than that, keep your eyes open enough to try to catch all this immensity. The best season for this trip is between October to May.
Tour Itinerary:
Day 1:
Starting in Merida, we will travel through the Trasandina highway, a scenic route by car exciting mountain roads towards the Andean Paramo. Visiting tranquil colonial Andean villages, like San Rafael de Mucuchies, stop at the renowned stone church made by Juan Félix Sánchez, enjoy the drinks and delicacies they have to offers us. During September and October we can see the yellows flowers of Frailejones. Next stop to contemplate Mucubaji Lagoon, enter in a microclimate characterized by its special flora and fauna, like Frailejones and birds. After we leave mountains behind us, we get into Los Llanos, first Altamira de Caceres, and finally Barinas. Camp and activities according to program selected.
Day 2-3:
The next three days are full of plenty of exciting encounters with nature! Wildlife and Bird observation from different sides of the road during walking and driving safaris excursions. Boat rides, to feel the rivers current, and receive a splash welcome from river dolphins, try to catch some piranhas, and enjoy the quiet of these green places, with birds all around, and finally take a walk through the pantanales, waiting for some anacondas, caymans and turtles! Your eyes will be the witness, to retain all this wilderness and savannahs, the refuge of thousands animals like: Giant Anteater, Deer, Jaguar, Ocelots. Enjoy this land riding a horse, passing rivers and feeling the expansive terrain, where you will see the horizon and blue sky which looks like it will go on for ever, and watching the birds, waiting for sunset. During the night, be part of a Llanera party, with Joropo and beers, or if you prefer, just go outside and see the sky, plenty of stars, looking like a shiny blanket touching the ground. Day 4:
Today we say good bye to all this Adventure, nice people, and nature! After breakfast we take the way back to Merida, through the Trasandina road. You can also finish the tour in Barinas ask for transfer to the Airport, to get flight connections to your next destiny. According to the program selected, there is also rafting include.
