Mérida City. A/h assistance and “early” transfer to La Carbonera Valley on the way to the town of La Azulita (1:15 Min). Visit to Puente del Diablo (Devil’s Bridge), natural arch with a magnificent cave inside crossed by Capaz River (with a small colony of Oil Birds). Breakfast and birding (Black Phoebe, Torrent Tyranulet, Oil Birds), visit to El Chorotal, spectacular road facing Lake Maracaibo´s basin with an exuberant clouded forest. Lunch and birding (Rufous-vented Chachalaca, Golden-winged Manakin, Ruddy Pigeon, Saffronheaded Tana-ger, Collared Inca, Booted-racquet Tail, Collared Trogon, Crested Quetzal, Bandtailed Pigeon,Green Jay, White-rumped Hawk, Black and chestnut Eagle). Late afternoon walk at Chorrera Las Gonzales waterfalls, a Natural Monument adjacent to Parque Nacional Sierra de La Culata. Evening birding (White-capped Dipper, Emerald Toucanet, Moustached brush-finch) Mérida City. H/D. Note: short pants or swimming trunks are recommended to see the Oil Bird’s colony.
