Mérida City. A/h assistence and “early” transfer to San Isidro´s trail (3hrs). This tour is possible from Barinas City also (2hrs). Crossing the páramos (Venezuelan highlands) from northwest to southeast (Sierra Nevada National Park). Breakfast. Full day birdwatching including the best world known Andean Cock-of-the-Rock site. (Barrred-forest Falcon, Black & chestnut Eagle, Roadside Hawk, Green Jay, Emerald Toucanet, Band-tailed Guan, Purple-throated Fruitcrow, Saffron- headed Tanager, Flamed-faced Tanager, Blue-necked Tanager, Blue-capped Tanager, Rose-headed Parakeet, Redheaded Barbet, Red-billed Parrot, Booted Racquet-tail Hummingbird, Red-ruffed Fruitcrow, Golden-headed Quetzal). Picnic lunch. The fantastic Lyre-Tailed Nightjar “probably” could be seen flying just before dark about 100 mts. after the Cock-of the-Rock path, or 60 steps before the river (We´ve seen it twice, same spot). Mérida City. Hotel. Dinner.
