On this remote outpost we encounter cryptic engravings hinting at buried treasure and an abandoned money pit where treasure hunters sought Capt Kidd’s booty. A deserted light station, with its classic tower, overlooks the entrance to the bay and the remnants of an earlier settlement (with its graveyard overgrown by the forest). On nearby Tobacco Island colonies of Blue Herons, Eider Ducks, Cormorants and Gulls find refuge. We will also paddle out to a fading shipwreck, tossed up on shore years ago and gradually succumbing to the rigors of Atlantic winter storms. We will spend the nights at Liscomb Lodge Resort.
