These all-day excursions allow participants to get a first-hand feel for sailing and crewing aboard an authentic gaff-rigged wooden schooner. Helping with raising the sails, steering and other on-deck activities are not an option during this 5 to 6 hour adventure, everybody's expected to chip in with the various duties required to sail this classic blue-water yacht. And best of all...No sailing experience required...only a sense of adventure and a willingness to participate.
Built in 1939, the "Dirigo II" circumnavigated the globe during the 1960's and sailed to Hawaii on several early Trans-Pac races. Now, based in Alamitos Bay, Long Beach, she's ready to take sea-going adventure seekers for some open ocean thrills.
