Ghana is an ideal destination for a wildlife safari holiday. With its 16 National Parks, resource reserves and protected areas covering a vast and varied habitat from wetland lagoons and salt pans along the Gold Coast, to tropical guinea rain forest in southern Ghana.

More centrally, you will find broad leaved woodland and as you venture northwards, the sahelian Savannah plains.
We also incorporate cultural excursions during all of our wildlife tours. We pass through remote areas seldom visited by tourists. This enhances our guest’s experience of the real Ghana and gives you a real sense of isolation from the developed world. Idyllic settings coupled with the colorful and warm hospitality of the varied ethnic groups who live in and around the National Parks, provide you with all the reasons you need to take an excursion into one of the finest wildlife zones in the world.

Whether you are jungle trekking through the unspoiled Ankasa Protected Area in search of chimpanzees, viewing hippos and monkeys from a dug out canoe on a river safari on the Black Volta River, or camping in Mole National Park listening to the roar of lions or a herd of elephants passing, you are guaranteed to take away memories that will stay with you forever.

Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Arrival. Arrival at Kotoka international airport and transferred to your hotel by the experienced guides who will be with you for the duration of your tour. You will be briefed on all aspects of your holiday over complementary drinks as you acclimatize yourself to Western Africa.

Day 2: Cultural excursions. The start to an amazing journey, after breakfast we set off for Kumasi, home of the Asantehene King of the Ashanti’s. En route we will visit a small craft village famous for its wooden carvings, an excellent place to buy and witness skilled carvers outside their workshops. We then proceed to Aburi Botanical Gardens for lunch. After lunch we make our way to a small village that makes traditional Ghanaian glass beads, here we will sit with Comfort and her wonderful family learning the history behind the beads and skilled process of making them. A short distance from the village is the beautiful Boti waterfall, a refreshing place to stop before setting off on the final leg of our journey to Kumasi.

Day 3: Cultural excursions. After a leisurely breakfast we set off for the village of Bonwre, home of Kente. We will interact with the locals learning the history behind the many designs of cloth and witness skilled weavers outside their homes during our village tour. A Coco farm is found a short distance away, Ghana is the worlds 2nd largest producer of Coco and a tour learning the process of producing quality Coco will give us an insight into the daily lives of many locals in Ghana.

After lunch we visit the village of Ntunsu the home of traditional Adinkra cloth. The Adinkra cloth is adorned by beautiful symbols, each with its own meaning; during our time here we can produce our own strip of cloth with symbols of personal significance.

Day 4: Wildlife viewing and cultural excursions. After a leisurely breakfast we set off Northwards towards the villages of Boebeng and Fiema, these 2 villages have been protecting black and white colobus and mona monkeys that live in the surrounding forests. The locals perceive them to be sacred, we will tour the village interacting with the locals, learning their history and traditions.

Day 5: Wildlife viewing and cultural excursions. An early start as we set off for the Upper West region of Ghana and the Wechiau community hippo sanctuary. Wechiau was voted the 3rd best eco conservation project in the world by the Independent newspaper in the UK. We enjoy a wonderful day mixing with the local community and seeing the endangered hippos on an unforgettable river safari. Definitely a highlight of our trip.

Day 6: Wildlife viewing. After a morning river safari we head off for Mole National Park, Ghana’s largest and best game viewing park. We set off for an afternoon foot safari getting extremely close to the worlds largest land mammals African Elephants. We marvel at the wildlife as we relax around the pool of our hotel in the evening.

Day 7: Cultural excursions. After an early morning foot safari we depart Mole, our destination is Kumasi, en route we will stop at Larabanga and the 14th century mud and stick mosque. A labyrinth of stalls nestled closely together we experience everyday life for the people of this great city, during our time here we can pick up some bargain souvenirs at low prices. After lunch we make our way to Cape Coast stopping at Assin Manso en route. Assin Manso is an important town along the enslaved African trade routes. Here enslaved Africans were bathed in a nearby river and checked for fitness before transportation to Cape Coast castle and shipment to the Americas. We arrive in Cape Coast in the early evening and check into our hotel.
