The tour will take you to a floating channel, a technical wonder of the 19th century, to a medieval monastery, and to several castles, chateaus and towns. You will, of course, get also plenty chances to enjoy a rest in the charming forests and meadows. You will spend the first three days of the tour at Lipno Lake and then you will ride to Rozmberk Castle.
In the following days, you will visit Cesky Krumlov, probably the best preserved medieval town in Europe, and then you will ride along the Vltava River to Ceske Budejovice, the home town of Budweiser beer. Hluboka Castle is the last jewel you will see on this exciting bike trip. From there you will take the minibus to Prague, where you will spend the last two nights.
The trail will take you through a diverse terrene. In Sumava we designed the track to wind around the Lipno Lake. To get to Rozmberk, you will cross a hill. From Rozmberk to Cesky Krumlov, you will ride on an easy track along the river or through the hilly forests, which is more beautiful but also more demanding.
The itinerary is designed as a gentle ride with a balance of cycling and sightseeing. Take it easy, take your time. It is holiday after all! You will receive a brochure with detailed information about all sights on your journey at the welcome briefing.
Day 0: Arrival to Prague, transfer from the airport to hotel, accommodation before the tour for one or two nights. (These services are not included in the tour price but they are strongly recommended for overseas clients because a pre-tour stay in Prague helps to overcome jet lag and gives an opportunity to get accommodated to the Czech Republic).
Day 1: Fully Guided tours and Guide-Led tours start on the scheduled day usually before 12 p.m. Self-Led tours and non-scheduled tours start upon clients’ request on any day from April until the end of October. Welcome briefing, transfer Prague – Cerna v Posumavi (190 km = 120 miles by our shuttle bus).
The journey by bus from Prague takes about 3 hours. It offers a nice view of the hilly landscape in Central Bohemia. You will pass through the towns Pribram, Pisek, Ceske Budejovice, and Cesky Krumlov and arrive to Cerna v Posumavi, a holiday resort at the bank of Lipno Lake. Check-in at the hotel, adjusting bicycles to match to cyclists' bodies, practical safety biking training (at guided tours only).
Day 2: Cerna v Posumavi- Schwarzenberg Floating Channel (46 km = 29 miles by bike). The route follows the Lipno Lake from the hotel to a ferry stop at Horni Plana. Then we make a round trip through the Bohemian Forest National Park and visit the Schwarzenberg floating channel. We can stop for lunch in the village of Nova Pec and then ride via Horni Plana back to the hotel.
The landscape we will ride through leaves a deep impression anyone visiting this region - we will be biking through deep forests and abandoned melancholic landscape. The small paved, but unused roads we take in this formerly restricted area had been used for 40 years during Communism regime by the boarder patrol only.
Day 3: Cerna v Posumavi – Vyssi Brod – Cerna v Posumavi (68 m = 42 miles by bike). We will take a ferry across the lake again and then take the route in the opposite direction to visit a Gothic monastery in Vyssi Brod.
On the way, we will have our lunch in a cosy restaurant at, which is located in a forest and offers a splendid view on the country. After the tour of the monastery, some people can take the support vehicle (at Fully Guided tours) to the hotel. however, keen riders can ride the way back on bike.
Day 4: Cerna v Posumavi - Rozmberk Castle (47 km = 29 miles by bike). We will check out of the hotel after breakfast and then ride to our destination, Rozmberk. The route passes through hilly landscape on the left bank of the Vltava River.
We will stop for a rest and a light lunch in Frymburg. We will have to step up on a small hill to get to Vyssi Brod. From there, we will ride on a narrow trail right by the riverbed of the Vltava and pass Certova stena (Devil's Rock) to arrive to Rozmberk, check-in at our hotel and have dinner.
Day 5: Rozmberk Castle – Cesky Krumlov (24 km = 15 miles or 38 km = 24 miles by bike). First we will take a tour of the castle in Rozmberk and then get on our way to Cesky Krumlov. We usually split into two groups for this way. One group takes the road along the left bank of the river, which makes for a more comfortable and faster trip to Krumlov (24 km in cca 1,5 hours).
The other group takes the more demanding, longer, but also more scenic road on the right bank of the river. In Cesky Krumlov, we check in at our hotel, walk through the town and have dinner in a very traditional Czech pub. The evening is free for you to explore the night life in this very lively Czech town.
Day 6: Cesky Krumlov– Ceske Budejovice – Hluboka nad Vltavou (42 km = 26 miles by bike). We will begin the day by a tour of the Cesky Krumlov castle and then ride to Ceske Budejovice by bikes. We will leave the region of deep forests, climb two bigger hills and ride along the river and fields to the monastery Zlata Koruna (Golden Crown).
From there we will ride to Ceske Budejovice, the town that gave name to the world-famous beer. We will have lunch there and taste beer that was brewed here even earlier than Columbus discovered America! After the tour of the city we will ride the remaining 12 km to Hluboka Chateau.
If we have enough time, we will visit the chateau or at least see the surrounding elegant park. At about 5 pm, we will take our company's shuttle bus and, in about 2 hours, we will reach Prague. There you will and check in at you hotel. Transfer Hluboka nad Vltavou – Prague (140 km = 88 miles by our company's shuttle bus).

Day 8: Breakfast, transfer to the Prague airport to catch your plane, unless you prolong your holiday in the Czech Republic.
