With it’s diversity in habitats ranging from deserts, acacia savannas, to wetlands, Rift valley lakes, alpine highlands and massifs, each has it’s own characteristic bird communities. Of the estimated 800 species to be found in Ethiopia, 30 are endemic. The wattled Ibis, the Abyssinian long claw, Black Headed sis kin among others can be seen in and out the national parks. Even though it is difficult to single out specific sites suitable for good bird-watching, it is however, relatively easy to spot many of them, including the endemic ones. The best time to join our bird watching program is between November and February. Our touring programs to the national parks and highland plateau provide excellent opportunity to viewers. Less rare than in other parts of Africa, the lammergeyer, Gypaetus barbatus, can often be observed in the highlands, too.
