Nov. 8: You leave for Thailand from LAX late at night. The adventure begins!
Nov. 9: In flight to Thailand.
Nov. 10: You arrive in Bangkok where your guide will meet you, and transfer you to your hotel.
Nov. 11: Today the day begins with a trip to the Golden Buddha Temple. Afterwards you will visit the Reclining Buddha Temple, which features a giant Buddha statue over 100 feet in length. After lunch you will go to the incredible Grand Palace with Wat Pra Kaeo. Evening: Traditional Thai dinner with classical dances and traditional performances. (B,L,D)
Nov. 12: You leave early in the morning to visit the Floating Market. Here you will ride on the canals through an older Thai river neighborhood and onto the actual Floating Market area. After lunch you will go to an elephant camp where you can not only ride the elephants but also have the option of swimming with some (very tame) elephants in the river. Then you will be taken to your hotel in the Kanchaniburi area. B,L,D)
Nov. 13 : Today you have a River Kwai tour (Kanchanaburi). You will stop at the Jeath War Museum, a visit to the Allied Memorial Graveyard, the River Kwai bridge, a short River Kwai cruise and a ride on the historic railroad. In the late afternoon we will take you to the airport for your flight to Chiang Rai. There your guide will meet you and transfer you to your hotel. (B,L,D)
Nov. 14 : You will visit the Queen Mother's Home and Garden, Doi Tung. Afterwards we will take you to the Burmese border, where there are Burmese handicrafts, silver work, gems, jewelry and fabric arts including their incredible trapuntos. Then you will go to the historic Golden Triangle where three countries share a border, Thailand, Laos and Burma (Myanmar). Then you will take a ride on a small river boat to the Burmese side and stop on a small island owned by Laos. (B,L,D)
Nov. 15 : After breakfast you will go on an excursion across to visit the hilltribe villages where you will meet the Aca, the Hmong, Yao and the Karen. Many of the natives have stands with handicrafts, hats, weavings, embroideries, etc. Lunch will be at local restaurants along the way, Then you will arrive in Chiang Mai and check into the hotel. Dinner at local restaurant in Chiang Mai. (B,L,D)
Nov. 16 (B,L,D): The day begins with a visit to the Doi Suthep, the ancient temple site. After lunch we will take you to the Handicraft "villages" which are actually the various factories of products which the Thais are well known for: silk, silver crafting, umbrellas, cloissonne, furniture and leather.
Nov. 17 : After breakfast you will visit the Elephant Camp, see the elephant show and cultural show and take a one hour elephant ride, go on a bamboo raft and learn about the noble Asian elephant and the worker monkees. You will also visit the Orchid Farm. (B,L,D)
Nov. 18 (B,L,D): We will take a flight from Chiang Mai directly to Phuket Island. There you will be met by the guide and taken to your resort hotel. This island and its beaches are very beautiful as is the resort hotel. The rest of this day is free for you to enjoy the area.
Nov. 19 (B): Free Day.
Option: A "jungle safari" which includes an elephant ride, a boating experience, a fairly unique elephant show and elephant demonstration as well as a monkey show.
Nov. 20 (B): Free Day.
Option: The Phi Phi islands tour (this all day tour includes a high speed boat ride through the beautiful Phi Phi islands, some snorkeling experiences, beach stops including famous May Bay, lunch on the main Phi Phi island and some time to lounge and work on a tan). Dinner at a beautiful Thai restaurant.
Nov. 21 (B,L,D): Return flight to Bangkok and back to the US with a lifetime of wonderful memories.
