Day 1: Depart for Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon).
Day 2: You arrive in Ho Chi Minh City (Saigon) where your guide will meet you and transfer you to your hotel. D
Day 3: After breakfast at your hotel, you will be taken to the Cu Chi Tunnels (aka Ho Chi Minh tunnels). A land that suffered great damage in the war. Stop-over to visit the rice-paper village. After lunch, you will go back to Ho Chi Minh for a city tour including: the Reunification Palace, Notre-Dame Cathedral, City Post-Office, Lam Son Square, War museum. Overnight in HCM. B, L
Day 4: A visit out to the Mekong Delta.
Evening option: Saigon nightlife.
Day 5: Breakfast at hotel, you will be transferred to the airport for your flight to Hue, where your guide will meet you and transfer you to the hotel. After lunch you will take a bicycle or cyclo or car to visit the Imperial Citadel - first built by King Gia Long in 1805. Here you will visit Ngo Mon Gate, Thai Hoa Palace, The Mieu Temple, and the Nine Dynastic Urns. Lunch. The Royal Tombs (King Khai Dinh's and King Tu Duc's tombs), Thien Mu Pagoda, Trang Tien Bridge and shopping at Dong Ba Market. Dinner. Traditional music on boat cuising along Perfume River to release Chinese lanterm. Overnight in Hue. B
Day 6: After breakfast, you will go sightseeing on Hai Van Pass. Visit Marble Mountains with its beautiful grottoes and temples, which can be reached by climbing steep steps where you can buy their famous stone sculptures. Then you will go to Hoi An, an ancient town where your guide will check you into your hotel. Dinner with Hoi An special dishes. Overnight in Hoi An. B
Day 7: After breakfast you will depart to Dannang, where you can visit the Museum of Cham Sculpture to see a fine collection of some 300 sandstone sculptures of gods, beasts & celestial dancing girls of exquisite beauty, created between the 7th to 15th centuries. You can swim at Non Nuoc Beach. Later you will fly to Hanoi and be transferred to the hotel. B, L
Day 8: Today you will go to the Ho Chi Minh Museum, Mausoleum and the surrounding grounds (including Ho Chi Minh residences). After lunch, you will go to the Museum of Ethnology. Evening option: Water Puppets. B, L
Day 9: Halong Bay cruise through the spectacular islands, have lunch in the midst of the beautiful areas and visit the caves. Possibly swim in bay. Then continue onto Cat Ba island and the hotel. B, L, D
Day 10: Free time. Late afternoon, you will tatke the ferry to Haiphong. A brief tour of the city and the harbor and drive back to Hanoi. Transfer to hotel. B, L
Day 11: Visit Temple of Literature, also with a small concert of traditional Vietnamese music (complete with traditional ethnic costumes). After lunch, visit the Ngoc Son Temple on Hoan Kiem Lake and take a tour of the Old Quarter. Evening transfer for the late night train to Lau Chai to go to Sapa, the old French mountain resort and home to many VN minorities. Stay in hotel. B, L
Day 12: You arrive in the morning, where your guide will meet you and take you by vehicle to Sapa. You will be checked into the hotel. Enjoy this interesting combination of French-style chateaus, mixed with VN and minority peoples. Visit the town market and see the many crafts and wares.
Day 13: Walking tours to the nearby villages of the Hmong and Dao people. See how they live: the beautiful landscapes with the terraced farming.
Day 14: A driving tour through the beautiful countryside. Visit various minorities and villages in the area. You return to the train station for the train to Hanoi.
Day 15: Drive out to the Thai Minority village at Mai Chau. Stay with a family in the village. See the interesting countryside, enjoy the local hospitality. Visit the neighboring village as well. Sleep in a stilted house.
Day 16: Continue enjoying the area, go for a walking tour of the area, then return to Hanoi.
Day 17: Fly from Hanoi to Siem Reap. You can obtain your Cambodian visa at the Siem Reap airport (bring head shots). Your guide will then transfer you to your hotel. Then you will go on a 3/4 day tour of Angkor Wat (Angkor Wat and Angkor Thom). Evening: Great Lake Sunset Cruise. L
Day 18: Angkor Wat tour (Ta Prohm and Bantay Srei). Evening option: Sunset view from mound of Phnom Bakeng). B
Day 19: Take the river cruise from Siem Reap to Phnom Penh. The ship leaves early in the morning (about 7:30am) and arrives in Phnom Penh in the early afternoon. You will have a free day.
Day 20: Return to USA Transfer to the airport for your return flight with a lifetime of wonderful memories!
