Day 1: You will depart for your flight to UlaanBaatar. There your guide will meet you and transfer you to your hotel.
Day 2: Altai Mountains and the Kazakh Eagle Hunters Trek: You will fly to UlaanGoom, which is on the east side of the Altai mountains. You will be on a jeep trek towards the mountain to get closer to the sites. Eat and sleep in the tent. You will have an opportunity to ride some horses around this area, once you are settled. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 3: You will be taken to several fascinating sites, including petroglyphs, deer stones and ancient burial sites. Then you will proceed over the Altai mountains to the west. You will see some incredible vistas as you ascend the mountain in your jeeps. You will spend the night in a tent near where of the Mongols have pitched their gers for their summer homes in the mountains. You will meet many of the Nomads and see what life is like here in the Mongol countryside. Sleep in tents. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 4: You will continue over the mountains and will arrive in Ulgii. You will meet the Kazakh Mongols and the Eagle Hunters. There is also a very interesting museum in Ulgii that we will visit. Then we will take you to sleep in a ger camp or hotel. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 5: The morning is free. Then you will be flown back to UlaanBaatar and transferred to your hotel. If there is time, we will take you to the Gandan Monastery (80 foot tall statue of Buddha, practicing Tibetan Buddhist Lamas). Includes: (B), (L).
Evening Option: In the evening we will take to Ger Restaurant and enjoy your dinner and concert.
Day 6: Steppe, Lakes and Mountains 6-Day Trek: featuring Karakhorum and Huvsgal Lake: The day begins with a visit to the National Museum. Then, you will go on a journey across the Mongolian Steppe. We will also take you to the Gandan Monastery, which is an active Tibetan Buddhist Monastery and features an 80-foot tall Buddha made of copper, silver, gold and precious jewels. Then we drive to Hustai Natural Reserve and visit the Dutch Horse Ranch. We will spend the night there. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 7: You leave in the morning to go on a trek to Karakhorum, the ancient capital of Chinggis Khan. See the beautiful Mongolian Steppe, visit Nomads along the way and enjoy Nomad hospitality. Arrive at the ger camp. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 8: You start the day in Karakhorum. Go to the 9th century stone tortoises. You can visit the Erdene Zuu Monastery. There are several interesting buildings, Buddhist artwork and possibly view a Buddhist service. Then we will drive you to Horgo Volcano (2968 m) -Terkhiin Tsagaan Nuur White lake formed by lava flows from a volcanic eruption many millennia ago. Overnight at ger camp. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 9: You can enjoy the morning exploring the Horgo Volcano area. Then you will drive to Lake Huvsgal. Then you will be taken to your ger camp. This is one of the most beautiful places on earth. There will be opportunities to ride horses, go for nature walks and enjoy the beautiful sunset in this pristine woodland and lake setting. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 10: You can continue to enjoy Lake Huvsgal. You can be driven around the west side of the lake to visit the Tsaatan people, who raise reindeer for a living. You can also visit Hatgal and see some of the native crafts and artwork from the area. You will sleep in the ger camp. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 11: You can continue to enjoy this area. Then you will fly back to UlaanBaatar in the evening. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 12: A Gobi Desert Trek: Fly to Dalanzadgad area in the morning and arrive at Juulchin ger camp Nr.1. Once settled in the camp we will take you on a tour of the area including Yol Am. This incredibly beautiful valley features one of the anomalies of nature found in Mongolia - here in the midst of the Gobi Desert is a glacier coming out of the mouth of a cave that is still frozen even throughout the summer. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 13: Full day tour, including the Flaming Cliffs (where dinosaur fossils were discovered in Mongolia), a camel herder and see the large dunes and varied countryside sites. Includes: (B), (L), (D).
Day 14: Enjoy the ger campsite and the beautiful scenery in the area. Fly back to UlaanBaatar and transfer to your hotel. You will visit the Chingiis Khan Campground on the way into Ulaanbaatar. You may also have an opportunity to take a short horse-back ride and enjoy the area. When you are back in UB we will give you a brief tour of the center of town, including SukhBaatar Square. Includes: (B), (L).
Day 15: You will be transferred to the airport for your flight home with many wonderful memories.
