This trip is especially intended for women searching for an active adventure vacation in Costa Rica. Included is warm-water “tropical boating” on Class II-IV rivers, Sea kayaking and swimming on the Caribbean coastline, Rainforest Explorations, and Cultural Tours.
Tour Itinerary
Day 1: (Jan.10), Arrival to San Jose, Costa Rica, Costa Rica’s capital and transfer to the hotel, Plaza Amon or similar.
Day 2: Drive north through the mountain, stopping enroute for a typical Costa Rican breakfast, and then into the Valley of the Sarapiqui and the Sarapiqui River for 3-4 hours of rafting this Class III jungle river. Then we overnight at the Selva Verde Rainforest Lodge. B, L, D
Day 3: In the morning we enjoy a trail-walk in Selva Verde’s private rainforest with a naturalist guide. In the afternoon we take a guided motorized boat ride into the jungle on an isolated stretch of the Sarapiqui river. Incl. Breakfast, lunch, dinner.
Days 4 - 6: Depart for the Pacuare River, Class IV, for two days of fabulous rafting, with a lay-over day. During the lay-over day we have a guided walk to a small village and meet the local residents. On the 6th, we leave the Pacuare River and drive to the Caribbean and the Gandoca Manzanillo Wildlife Refuge. B, L, D
Day 7: The activities during our days at the Caribbean may change in order depending on weather, availability, or other things beyond our control. We plan a mroning tour to the BriBri and Kekoldi Reserve to visit the Iguana Farm and the women who operate it.
In the afternoon, we take the Canopy Tour (considered one of the best in the nation). We overnight in 25 open-air, screened-in cabins carved out of a virgin jungle and elevated on 8’ platforms, right next to the beach. B, L, D
Day 8: This is "beach day". Boogie boarding, swimming, and sit-on-top kayaking is on the schedule. An optional bike ride (at additional cost) is available. We visit the village of Manzanillo. B, L, D
Day 9: After breakfast, return to San Jose, arriving about 2 P.M. You have time to shop before enjoying our Farewell Dinner.Overnight Plaza Amon or similar. B, L, D
Day 10: (January 19), Fly home. Airport transfer included. B
