The well trodden path through Ethiopia's famous and fascinating historical places takes you through a scenic, magnificent world of fairy tale names, such as Lalibela, Gondar, Axum and Bahir Dar. Historic North is accessible by road and by air throughout the year. Daily flights connect besides Addis Ababa the four historical sites to each other. Traveling the route by plane, by car or both will offer you a glimpse into a truly remarkable past.

Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: AM 07:30-08:35 ET122 Addis Ababa – Lalibela flight. On arrival GETTS representative will meet at airport for hotel transfer. The rest of the day will be spent in Lalibela town visiting the eleven 13th century rock-hewn churches that have been carved into the rugged mountainsides, now rightly acknowledged as one of the wonders of the world. Overnight Lalibela Tukul Village Hotel

Day 2: AM transfer to airport for 08:55-10:45 ET122 Lalibela – Axum flight. PM visit in Axum town Archaeological Museum; Stelae Fields where you see 2000 years old mysterious monolithic obelisks; 6th century Kings Gebre-Meskel & Kaleb Necropolis; Tsion Mariam Church where the original Ark of Covenant is said to be housed; Epitaph of King Ezana and finally ruins of Queen Sheba’s palace said to have been built at pre-Christian era. Overnight Axum Yeha Hotel

Day 3: AM transfer to airport for 11:10-11:50 ET123 Axum – Gondar flight. PM visit in Gondar town the Royal Enclosure that contains 17th century castles built when Gondar was the capital of Ethiopia; elaborately decorated Debre Berhane Selassie Church whose walls & ceiling are covered with vivid murals; Fasiledese's Bathing Pool; abbey of 18th century Empress Mentewab and Felasha (Black Jews) Village, though vacated by almost all of its Felasha occupants; it continues to make pottery in the Felasha tradition. Day 4: AM drive to Bahar Dar (185km) enjoying on the way the rolling hillsides, dotted with picturesque villages. PM leave by boat over Lake Tana for Zeghie Peninsula, which is known for its 14th century, round, grass roofed churches and their magnificent wall murals. You’ll visit Ura Kidane Mehret Church, walking through dense forest with lots of bird life. Overnight Bahar Dar Summerland Hotel

Day 5: AM excursion to visit Blue Nile Falls situated about 30km outside Bahar Dar town. PM transfer to airport for 17:00-18:05 ET141 Bahar Dar – Addis Ababa flight and end of service
