On this tour you will spend two days in the Old City - wandering its narrow byways, shopping in the markets, tasting authentic humus, and sahlab, and knafe! You will walk on the rootfops and gaze down into the city, you will enter an underground Byzantine neighborhood, leave a note at the Wailing (Western) Wall, explore the City of David and the famous Shiloah Tunnel.
The Jewish Quarter - ancient and modern - is like no other neighborhood in the world. You will visit its museums (in houses 2,000 years old!) and synagogues destroyed in the last war and currently being restored. We will take you through the Moslem Quarter, to Mamaluke buildings centuries old, to the Christian Quarter with its famous and historic churches.
Our Jerusalem tour includes at least one more day in "modern" Jerusalem, dating back to 1860! Stroll through old lanes and alleys, learn about Jerusalem in the 19th century - and about the War for Independence in 1948. Follow the City Line - the division between Eastern and Western Jerusalem until the city was reunited in 1967 by the bravery of Israel's soldiers in the Six Day War.
Try Jerusalem's coffee shops and restaurants, walk her new pedestrian malls and visit little corners of the city off the beaten track!
