The 9 day tour to southern western Ethiopia includes stays in Langano and a drive to Bale Mountains. Walking and horse back riding can also be arranged for the 4th day in the Bale highlands. A full day visit to Sof-omar and Soder resort are also part of our activities in day 5 and 6. One day stay at Awash Park as well as a visit to Zequala lake and city tour of Addis is also part of this package.

Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Addis Ababa by Air
Arrive Addis upon evening arrival in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, members on the group flight are greeted with the traditional Ethiopian hospitality at the airport and transferred to the hotel.

Day 2: Lake Langano by Surface
Drive to the Rift valley to Langano along the road visiting the volcanic lakes at Debre Zeit which is 45 Kms from Addis, the artificial lake of koka, Ziway Lake with its water birds, and the Abjata - Shalla national park considered to be the Pelican Island of East Africa. Overnight Wabi Shebele hotel Langano

Day 3: Bale Mountains National Park by Surface
After Breakfast drive to Goba via Shashemene. Lunch en route, and continue driving through the forestland of Bale Goba. Arrive Goba Ras hotel. Over night Goba Ras hotel

Day 4: Bale Mountains National Park by Surface
Full day trip with picnic lunch in the Bale national park with its vast moorlands, virgin woodlands, pristine mountain streams and alpine climate. The Bale Mountains remain an untouched beautiful world. Rising to a height of more than 4000 meters, the range borders the southern high lands of Ethiopia. Mount Tulu Dimtu, the highest peak in southern Ethiopia, reaches 4377 meters.

The establishment of the 2400 Sq. Kms. of Bale mountains, National park was crucial to the survival of the Ethiopian Red fox or Abssynian Wolf which is endemic to Ethiopia only, the mountain Nyala, and Meneliks bush buck. Many forest birds like the endemic thick billed Raven are to be seen in and around the park. The Bale Mountains offer also some fine high altitude horse and foot trekking. Drive back to Goba Ras hotel for over night

Day 5: Sof Omar caves by Surface
After breakfast day excursion to sofomar Caves. The caves are unique for its River flowing into it. Picnic lunch and wondering around the region for more sight seeing. Late afternoon drive back to Goba Ras hotel. Dinner and overnight Goba Ras hotel.

Day 6: Awash River by Surface
After breakfast drive to sodore to arrive for lunch and afternoon bathing and enjoy the natural hot spring and Awash River flowing through the resort.

Day 7: Awash National Park by Surface
Drive to Awash National Park, which is the oldest and most developed wildlife, reserve in Ethiopia. Featuring the 1800 m high Fantalle Volcano, extensive mineral Hot Springs, and extraordinary volcanic formations. This natural treasure is bordered to the south by the Awash River and lies 225 Kms east of Addis. Drive to the Hot Springs about 30 kms from the Head quarter of the park. Evening game drive in the National Park. Over Night at Kereyou Lodge in the Park

Day 8: Zuqala Lake by Surface
Early morning, more game drive and visit of the Awash River falls. After noon slow drive through the town of Nazareth and Debre Zeit visiting some volcanic lakes and back to Addis.

Day 9: Addis Ababa by Surface
Addis Ababa is located at 2,500 meters above sea level at the footstep of the highest parts of series of Mountain chain. Addis is also the seat of African Union (AU) and many International offices and over 100 Embassies. It enjoys an excellent climate all year round; with an average temperature of 16°C. Addis Ababa is a pleasant city with wide avenues of jacarandas, interesting museums and one of the largest open-air markets in Africa, known as the Merkato.

After early breakfast we will visit the National Museum (a multi-collections representing Ethiopia's past and present image). Among the famous exhibits, the 3.5 million year old skeleton of 'Lucy' is worth visiting. We will also visit the Ethiopian Studies Institute Ethnological museum for its extraordinarily collection of the priceless and varied ethnic medley.

Then we continue driving up to the mount (over 3000 meters) Entoto, the first seat of Emperor Menelik II before he established Addis Ababa as the capital of Ethiopia in 1886. Visitors will also have the opportunity to visit Trinity Cathedral and Merkato. Along our way we will have the chance to see avenues, squares, obelisks and many places of interests and shopping.
