Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Bangkok – Ubon Ratchathani – Pakse – Khong Island. With a domestic flight you will arrive from Bangkok to Ubon Ratchathani. After crossing the border continuing to Pakse. Transfer directly to the pier of Pakse to take a traditional boat for a 2-hour cruise to Champassak.
Continue then by car to Wat Phou, another World Heritage Site in Laos recognized by UNESCO in 2002, this ruin temple was built before Angkor Wat in Siem Reap, which is one of the most ancient Khmer temple architecture dating from the 8-11 th century.
In the afternoon drive to Khong Island and stop en route to visit the ruins of the Khmer temple of Oup Mong at Ban Houei Tomo. Arrive at Ban Hatsai Khoune before sunset and board a traditional long tail boat to reach Khong Island. Overnight in Khong Island. (L)
Day 2: Khong Island – Ban Khone – Khone Phapeng – Phou Asa – Pakse. After breakfast we continue by car to Ban Nakasang. We take a boat for a 20 minutes cruise to Ban Khone where some old French buildings are still along the road. We continue to discover the area of 4000 islands with our small traditional boat.
We visit one of the most beautiful waterfalls marking the end of Lao boundary to Cambodia called Liphi waterfall, known also as the Samphamith. If we are lucky, we can see the rare Mekong dolphin. Returning to Ban Nakasang and drive to famous waterfalls of Khone Phapeng. The largest waterfall in South East Asia.
We drive further on and stop in Phou Asa to visit the vestiges of this temple dating from the 18 th century [if time permits and elephants available] Here we can experience a 2hrs Elephant ride through a forest path. Transfer to your hotel. Overnight in Pakse. (B, L)
Day 3: Pakse – Saravanh – Boloven – Tadlo. After breakfast excursion drive to Tadlo via the plateau of Boloven where tea and coffee plantations growing and most famous Lao coffee. En route we visit the minority villages of Ban Tateng and experience the daily lifestyle of ethnic minority people of Alack, Katu, Nge. After that we are going to visit the charming village of Tadlo. Transfer to Tadlo resort, enjoy swimming in the pool of Tadlo waterfall where your accommodation is located. Overnight in Tadlo. (B, L)
Day 4: Tadlo – Pakse – Vientiane. Vientiane - buddha in bronze. Very early morning, we drive to Pakse to board a flight to Vientiane Capital, upon arrival; you met and transferred to our centrally located hotel. A city tour acquaints us with the major sights of the capital.
We visit the sacred Wat Sisaket the oldest temple with thousands of miniature Buddha statues and the former royal temple of Wat Prakeo previously housed the famous Emerald Buddha Image. On the way to the famous and sacred structure of That Luang Stupa, we stop to take some pictures of the imposing Patuxay Monument , which is well known as Vientiane’s own Arc de Triumph, sunset by Mekong Riverside and late evening. Overnight in Vientiane. (B)
Day 5: Vientiane – Luang Prabang. After breakfast, free time until we take a short flight to Luang Prabang. Check in the hotel. Today we will doscover this beautiful town and the cultural heritage. We visit Wat Visoun, the site of impressive Thad Makmo stupa. Then continue to visit Wat Mai. Built in 1796, the five-tiered roof of the wooden Sim (chapel) emphasizes the graceful Luang Prabang architectural style.
Wat Xiengthong considered emphasizing and characterizing the uniqueness of Luang Prabang’s local style: its several roofs sweep low to the ground. Phou Sii hill stands right in the centre of this small city. Climb its 350 steps to enjoy commanding views for many miles in each direction. Overnight in Luang Prabang. (B)
Day 6: Luang Prabang, the Mekong and the holy Pak Ou Caves. After breakfast, begin a full day boat trip on the mighty Mekong River to visit the Pak Ou Cave - view outPak Ou Caves with their lacquered Buddha statues. On the way stop over to visit some villages as such Ban Muangkham, Ban Muangkeo where the local people make rice wine. Picnic lunch at local restaurant.
Then make a short visit to the village of Ban Pak ou where there are many souvenir shops having traditional Lao textiles. Then return to Luang Prabang. Drive to Ban Xangkhong and Ban Xienglek which know as textile villages. Overnight in Luang Prabang. (B)
Day 7: Luang Prabang – Departure. Breakfast, free at leisure discovery and transfer to airport flight to Bangkok, Siem Reap or Chiangmai. (B)
