Weekends are free to do as you wish.

Days 6-7: Weekend – Free time

Day 8: Cusco City Tour
This full day excursion includes the best highlights of Cusco – “the navel of the world” and the center of the ancient Inca Empire. You will visit Q’oricancha, the Inca Temple of the Sun and then tour Cusco’s Cathedral, a 15th century church filled with original artwork and an amazing high altar made of silver. In the afternoon, you will tour the four primary ruins surrounding Cusco, including Sacsaywaman, Q’enko, Tambomachay, and Puka Pukara. As part of the tour you will receive the “Tourist Ticket” which can be used in your free time to visit a number of museums and other attractions in and around Cusco. Lunch included.

Day 9: Sacred Valley of the Incas
You will take a beautiful driving tour of the ancient agricultural center of the Incas. You will travel by bus from Cusco down into the lush, green Sacred Valley. Your first stop is the pueblo of Pisac, and then onto Urubamba, and the archeological ruins at Ollantaytambo. Your tour will also take you into the high mountain plains to the small village of Chincheros – home to a colonial church built upon Incan foundations, and a quaint market right in the main square; all while surrounded by the amazing snow-capped mountain peaks of the Andes. Lunch included.

Day 10 – 15: Spanish Language Classes
Days 8 through12 are spent in intensive Spanish language classes. Classes can be scheduled for the morning or afternoon to suit your needs. Weekends are free to do as you wish.

Days 16-17: Weekend - Free time

Day 17: Machupicchu
Early in the morning, you will depart by “Vistadome” train service, bound for the village of the Aguas Calientes, right on the edge of the Amazon Rainforest and literally at the foot of the mystical Machupicchu mountain. From Aguas Calientes you will travel by bus up to the entrance of the sanctuary-city of Machupicchu. You will take a 3-hour guided tour of the ancient ruins, which are still 60% intact today. At the end of the tour, you can hike to the top of Huayna Picchu, the mountain overlooking Machupicchu, or to the Temple of the Moon. That night, you will spend the night at the Hostel Presidente in the village of Aguas Calientes. Lunch included.

Day 18: Aguas Calientes
On Day 4, you can make another trip up to Machupicchu and do some more day trekking, or you can relax in the natural hot springs, or just do some shopping if you prefer. In the afternoon at 3:30, you will board the “Vistadome” train for your trip back to Cusco, arriving at 7:30 in time for dinner. Lunch included.

Days 19-23: Spanish Language Classes
Days 18-22 are spent in intensive Spanish language classes. Classes can be scheduled for the morning or afternoon to suit your needs. Weekends are free to do as you wish.

Days 24-25: Weekend – Free Time
NOTE: Days 26–28 are programmed to include a tour of Peru’s Tambopata Reserve in the Amazon Rainforest. However, this may vary depending on time of year, weather conditions, and availability of tours. Other tours which may be substituted without prior notice include: 1) Lake Titicaca and 2) Peru’s world famous Nazca Lines.

Tambopata Reserve
The Tambopata Reserved Zone is the most preserved area of the Amazon rainforest and it covers an area of approximately 1.48 million hectares/3.66 million acres. It is in this amazing biological reserve that three ecosystems converge resulting in an astounding variety of flora and fauna. Among this incredible variety, there are a number of endangered species including the jaguar, the giant otter, and the harpy eagle. As well, one of the highlights of Tambopata is the Colpa de Guacamayos – one the largest clay licks in Peru, which attracts thousands of macaws and parrots who come to feed on the mineral salts.

Day 26: Transfer Cusco - Tambopata
Early in the morning you will take a 1-hour flight from Cusco to Puerto Maldonado – the biodiversity capital of Peru, at 12:00 p.m. You will take a 4-hour boat ride from Puerto Maldonado along the Madre de Dios River to your jungle lodge, where you will be welcomed with a refreshing traditional drink, then settle into your bungalow and have lunch. Later in the afternoon, a specialized jungle guide will guide you through a visit of Monkey Island in the heart of the Madre de Dios River. Lunch and dinner included.

Day 27: Lost Cocha
After breakfast, you will set off on your jungle adventure. A local guide will lead you through the depths of the virgin forest to the Lost Cocha – a shelter and food source for a great variety of animals such as giant otters, crocodiles, turtles, sachavacas, colorful birds, the majestic jaguar, and a great variety of tropical fish.

Later, you will trek through the jungle to the famous Amazonian Viewing Point, built on the top of a Shihuahuaco tree. From there, you will be able to fully appreciate the magical jungle in all its splendor. In the evening, if there is time, your guide will take you across the river by canoe to visit a local native family living in the jungle. Breakfast, lunch, and dinner included.

Day 28: Transfer Tambopata - Puerto Maldonado
On your final day in the jungle, you will enjoy a nice breakfast and then travel back along Madre de Dios River to Puerto Maldonado and then fly back to Cusco. Breakfast and lunch included.
