After wandering amidst Hong Kong's glittering skyline, you board an overnight train to Guilin - famous for its sugar-loaf peaks and meandering river - views that have inspired poets and artists for centuries. From Yangshuo explore on foot and by bike to discover the hidden corners of this beautiful area. Next you visit a rural region to see the "Dragon's Backbone" - fantastic rice terraces which spill down the hillsides. The area is home to many minority tribes and spending a couple of nights in local villages gives you a unique insight into rural life.
In Xian you'll visit the amazing Terracotta Warriors, whose serried ranks served Emperor Qin over 2000 years ago. In Beijing you'll enter the Forbidden City then drive north to wander along the snake-like Great Wall and hear stories of horsemen invading from the north. Neither adults nor kids will forget this trip of a lifetime!
Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Join trip Hong Kong.
Day 2: Orientation walk; free afternoon.
Day 3: Transfer to Guangzhou; overnight train to Guilin.
Days 4-5: Guilin area; bike ride into countryside, optional trips: kayaking, cormorant fishing, calligraphy, Chinese language lessons etc.
Days 6-8: Dragon's Backbone; wander villages; fly to Xian.
Days 9-10 Xian; Explore old town, visit Terracotta Warriors; overnight train to Beijing.
Days 11-13: Beijing; visit Forbidden City, Great Wall; free Day 14: Trips ends. Beijing.
