The beautifully preserved city of Prague has a wealth of sights to see and discover; Wenceslas Square, The Charles Bridge and a maze of medieval alleyways and courtyards. After a full day's exploration you catch the overnight sleeper train for Slovakia, waking the next morning in the western Tatras, which hold some of the highest peaks and most spectacular scenery in the range.
From your base in Zuberec you'll set out on a different adventure each day: cycling along valley trails, rafting on the river Orava, trying your hand at traditional crafts and taking a carriage ride into the mountains. You'll learn about the Slovak way of life over a meal with a local family and visit the imposing Orava Castle. You'll also walk to the birth place of Juraj Janosik - Slovakia's very own "Robin Hood". There's plenty of time to relax too - either by a mountain waterfall or in a steaming thermal pool.
Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Trip starts in Prague
Day 2: Sightseeing in Prague then overnight train to Slovakia
Day 3: Transfer to Zuberec; relaxing and swimming in thermal pools
Day 4: Cycling to Zuberec; meal with Slovak family, horse and carriage ride
Day 5: Visit Brestova; local crafts and games
Day 6: Visit to Orava; swimming and river journey to Oravsky Castle
Day 7: Lakes and waterfalls walk
Day 8: Rafting on river Orava, trek to birthplace of Juraj Janosik
Day 9: Free for optional activities, transfer to station for overnight train to Prague
Day 10: Trip ends in Prague
