Highlights:
- Land of myths and legends
- Remote Mani Peninsula
- Athens & Olympia
After climbing up to the Acropolis to marvel at the architectural skills of the ancient Greeks, you'll drive into the Peloponnese to the attractive coastal town of Nauplion. Here there is no excuse not to sit out on the waterfront and sample the local cuisine. If you can drag yourself away, take the chance to visit the citadel of Mycenae, from where the Greeks set out to Troy. Many of Hercules' 12 tasks took place in this region - the Argolid.
Medieval Monemvasia clings to the base of a huge rock and its atmospheric car-free streets are a treat to explore. You'll visit the Diros Caves by boat and walk in the wild landscape between tranquil villages. Passing through the olive groves that surround Kalamata you visit Olympia. This beautiful and atmospheric site brings legend and history to life as you walk through the tunnel to the ancient stadium that was used over 3000 years ago.
