Highlights:
- Centre-based Atlas Mountains walks
- Berber villages & hospitality
- Marrakech souks.
Enjoy your first day in the lively souks of Marrakech and the carnival-like atmosphere of the Djemaa el-Fna, filled with colourful water-sellers, snake-charmers, jugglers and musicians. Then you'll head to your mountain base at the foot of Mount Toubkal - North Africa's highest mountain. Even though it is only 40 miles from Marrakech, the peace, quiet and seclusion are so complete that the city seems a million miles away. It is run by Berber people, who will give you a warm welcome (and probably a glass of mint tea) and an insight into their fascinating culture.
Once you've settled in to your simple accommodation you'll be drawn to go and explore on foot. There are almost endless possibilities for walking and you'll head out to discover the mountains - or you could choose to relax on the terrace and enjoy the view! The really fit and active could even make an optional attempt on the summit of Mt Toubkal itself.
