Black Pot Safaris specialize in providing fully-supported, privately guided and personally tailored self-drive safaris for those intrepid individuals who choose to visit Africa in search of beauty, adventure and unbeatable wildlife. We cater specifically for people who want:
- to drive their own 4x4 vehicle and discover Africa for themselves
- to create their own route and personalized itinerary
- to relax in comfortable, stylish campsites
- to enjoy delicious food, food served straight from the fire by an accomplished bush chef
- to be accompanied, supported and catered for throughout the safari by their own personal safari leaders (who will drive a separate vehicle)
- to pay one price with no hidden extras which includes vehicle hire, equipment, camping fees, park entrance, fuel and food.
We recommend that you spend as much time as possible under canvas, but we can arrange lodge accommodation along the way if you wish. Your safari should be anything from 10 days to a month in duration. The choice is yours.
Our trips start from Johannesburg, South Africa and from there head off into the wildest parts of southern Africa where a Land Rover is essential and often destinations can only be reached by gravel roads and 4x4 tracks.
However, if there is somewhere that you want to visit that we haven't mentioned, we will happily include that on your itinerary. We also recommend that you visit at least two countries on your safari to experience different eco-systems and to travel amongst people of different countries and cultures.
Namibia's landscapes are an ever changing kaleidoscope, varying from the Namib dune sea in the west to teak woodlands and waterways in the northeast. Namibia offers superb game viewing in national parks and game reserves.
Some of the country's highlights are the Caprivi Strip and Caprivi Game Park, Mamili National Park, Mudumu National Park, Namib-Naukluft Park, Sossusvlei, the Skeleton Coast, Etosha National Park, Damaraland, Brandberg Nature Reserve, Kaokaveld, Fish River Canyon, Waterberg Plateau Park and Bushmanland.

We have based our prices on a 12 night/13 day camping trip for four people sharing a fully customized and equipped Land Rover Defender. However, please remember that all of our itineraries are tailor-made and therefore individually priced.
Price includes:
- a fully customized Land Rover and all equipment
- support vehicle and team leader costs
- route planning, itineraries, bookings and travel guidance
- park entry and camping fees
- constant contact via 2-way radio and a satellite phone for emergencies
- all fuel
- emergency medical kit
- 3 full meals per day plus snacks, drinking water and cordial.
Price excludes:
- international airfares to and from collection/departure points
- drop-off/collection fees for Land Rovers outside of South Africa
- visas and personal travel insurance
- alcoholic beverages, mixers and soft drinks - although a full-paying bar is provided upon request
- all beverages out of camp
- laundry services.
