Highlights:
- Walking & mountain biking
- White medieval fortress villages
- Kayaking & sandy beaches
Your base is the small fishing village of Zahara de los Atunes, a relaxed seaside town with an 11km long sandy beach. From here you’ll stretch your legs with walks out into the countryside and around whitewashed villages. Taking to mountain bikes you’ll be able to go further afield, with great views out across to Morocco and the chance to visit Cape Trafalgar – famous for Nelson’s victory. Then onto the water to kayak around the beautiful Barbate lake, where a stray splash is a great way to cool off as the temperature rises.
There’s stacks to do and plenty of time to chose your preferred option; the Straits of Gibraltar are a fantastic spot to take a boat trip out to see dolphins and whales. Sticking to the land why not go horse-riding, canyoning or walking in the spectacular Alcornocales Natural Park. If you want to relax a bit you can opt to spend time on the long sandy beaches of the area – or spice it up by trying your hand at windsurfing.
