Far from the madding tourist crowds we are able to get a great sense of the scale and the majesty of this remarkable piece of engineering without rushing through in a big group. As we trek along various contrasting sections of the wall, we get closer to day-to-day life in rural China before returning to Beijing, a city steeped with history yet plunging headlong into modernisation. Tour Itinerary: Day 1: Start Beijing. Traditional Beijing Duck dinner. Day 2: Transfer to Mutian Yu and trek past watchtowers on the Great Wall then transfer to Jiankou. Day 3: Morning trek around Jiankou with its steep mountains and beautiful scenery. Transfer to Gubeikou. Day 4: Trek along the wall near Gubeikou. Day 5: Trek past villages to Jinshanling. Day 6: Trek over mountain ridges from Jinshanling to Simatai, past ruined and restored watchtowers. Day 7: Drive to Taipingzhai and trek to Huangyaguan, overnight at farmer's house. Day 8: Visit the East Qing Tombs, transfer to Beijing. Day 9: Sightseeing tour of Beijing, including Tiananmen Square and the Forbidden City. Day 10: Tour ends in Beijing. Notes: Prices:
