A guided downriver canoe tripping expedition with 10 days in Mongolia and 6 days on the river. From the capital Ulaanbaatar we fly out to Khovsgol province in the north of Mongolia, here the Mongolian steppes meet the Siberian Taiga forest; the rivers we will paddle flow through some of the most beautiful landscapes in the country. We will paddle through dramatic canyons, and pass riverside pastures where Mongolian nomads tend their herds of yaks, horses, camels, sheep and goats. Taking time out from paddling we can hike to stunning view points, visit nomad families, or fly-fish for lenok trout and taimen.
We are equipped with the biggest fleet of the best quality open canoes in Mongolia. These are not inflatables but real US made 'Wenonah' downriver tripping canoes. The rivers we will paddle include some grade II + rapids; which can be paddled or portaged depending on your skills and the river level. Our 16' and 17 ' canoes can be paddled solo or tandem and we'll carry all our camping equipment with us on the boats.
