Sea kayaking around the islands of Vis and Biševo is the most exciting kayak tour on the Croatian part of the Adriatic Sea. Located in the heart of the Adriatic, these isolated and remote islands are still kept out of the conventional routes of mass tourism.

Until 1989 tourists were not allowed to visit the island since the ex-Yugoslav army located its underground bases there. We will visit three large sea caves, a deserted rocket base, intact bays, pebbly and sandy beaches, old fisherman's villages, a fishing tools museum and catch fish alongside skilled local fishermen.

Tour Itinerary:

Day 1: Airport – Split – Vis
Transfer from the airport to the town Vis on the island of Vis, accommodation, dinner.

Day 2: Vis - the Green cave – Rukavac
In the morning we set off in kayaks from the port of Vis to the lighthouse Stončica. We stop for a short rest and swim in the sandy bay Smokova. Then we continue rowing to the small island of Ravnik where we enter the Green cave in our kayaks. Shortly after this visit we come to the small village Rukavac for lunch and accommodation.

Day 3: Rukavac – small bay Stiniva – rocket base – Komiža
We row along the wild southern side of the island to Stiniva, one of the most ravishing small bays in the Adriatic. We rest on the pebbly beach surrounded by high cliffs which create not more than a few metres wide sea gate. After Stiniva we go to the cape Stupišće where we visit a deserted rocket base, underground tunnels and blockhouses and have a lunch. After lunch we enter Komiža, the old fisherman’s port on the south-western part of the island. Accommodation in Komiža.

Day 4: Around the island by van
We drive around the island by van and visit its sights. We visit the fishing museum, have lunch and relax.

Day 5: Komiža – the Blue cave – the Bear cave – Porat
We spend the next two days in the local waters of the island of Biševo with no more than 15 permanent inhabitants. We row to the Blue cave, the best-known sea cave in the Adriatic. After we visit the cave we have packed lunch and continue rowing to the Bear’s cave which spreads 96 meters deep into the centre of the island. At the end of the cave there is a small beach, one of the last sanctuaries of the monk seal, an animal which is probably extinct today. Accommodation in the village Porat on Biševo.

Day 6: Porat – the beach Izvori – Komiža
While the whole group is still asleep, Dado and Pino, two fishermen from Komiža, throw the net so we could have fresh fish for lunch. Then we leave Porat in our kayaks and meet the fishing boat to help them lift their fishnets. The catch is almost always sufficient to prepare lunch after the rowing to pebbly beach Izvori in the bay of Komiža. Accommodation in Komiža.
