Tour Itinerary:
Day 1: Hanoi - Hai Phong
Pick up at your hotel in Hanoi and transfer for the two-and-a half hour ride on the local train to Hai Phong. The trip offers plenty of opportunities to get in touch with the locals, who are eager to try their communication skills in English and French and who are curious about your whereabouts, marital status, experiences of Vietnam, its food and peoples. Once leaving Hanoi, the train passes rice and vegetable fields, where farmers with their typical conical hats work in groups and villagers transport their produce, baskets, chicken and pigs on their bicycles and carts.
Late afternoon, we start with a visit to Du Hang Pagoda, a delightful Buddhist monastery built and restored over several centuries, and the Hang Kenh Communal House, where a number of ancient brass gongs, beads and Chinese bowls and vases are stored. Continue to the local market, then drive back hotel.
Day 2: Hai phong - Cat Ba island - Halong Bay
The day is reserved for world-famous Halong Bay. Hai Phong Harbor is just a five-minute drive away from the hotel, where you board a Russian-built hydrofoil for the 1-hour trip to Cat Ba Island. The island and surrounding area were declared a national park in 1986 and are home to a large variety of fish, mollusks.
A further attraction of the area are numerous deserted beaches on nearby islands. During the next five hours you will take a boat trip through the fascinating rocky islands of the national park of Cat Ba and Halong Bay on a wooden boat, visit caves and lagoons, where the clear water is perfect for a refreshing swim in the summer months. Delicious seafood, freshly prepared on board, will be served during the trip. Overnight in Cat Ba.
Day 3: Cat Ba - Haiphong - Hanoi
After breakfast, we are transferred to Catba National Park for a 3-hours trek up the Ngu Lam Mt. one of the highest mountains on Cat Ba. Getting back to town, we have a few hours enjoying ourselves on the lovely beach of Cat co before boarding the hydrofoil for our journey back to Hai Phong. Get picked up by our van, we are transferred back to Hanoi. Arrive Hanoi around 06 00 pm. Tour ends
